If you want to create professional , there’s nothing better than using @FreeCAD and exporting to . The Sketcher component in doesn’t work great on my PC, but it’s still a solid option.

Hello people! I've been on the Fediverse for couple of years now, so here's my re-

I'm Ari, better known by my tag APZ and this is my repair, and account. I mostly post about playing and repairing pinball machines, but I also work on with all the classics.

An IT guy by day, I moonlight as a public pinball arcade here in with my partner @quester . This is purely a hobby of mine and I do this to keep my sanity and to keep pinball alive for the next generations of players. At the moment I own a bit over 30 pinball machines from 70s to 2020s.

A lot of what I do involves , for now obsolete parts and and tabletop to recreate them.

I love to , usually to meet like-minded arcade collectors. I have a strong preference to stuff instead of throwing it away. I'm a user since mid-90s, having been part of movement most of my life.

Dear ,

Would someone like to design me a cursed PCIe bracket adapter for 3D print?
I need to fit a card upside down (in relation to the connector).

Context: https://mastodon.social/@dzwiedziu/114346601491331539

Edit: the cables probably won't fit.

Time for a new

imma be building a setup, basically a bunch of small servers in a cluster for doing home computation.

i always find these silly, but i actually have a need for one now that im trying to cut loose from all cloud services/subscriptions

i'm gonna try and make a rack-mounting thingy out of an old ITX computer case!
i'll do this with and some

i would love to invest into a mini rack, but i just realized that's cisadmin pinterest vibes, and i might as well re-use this scrap metal i have lying around

one should be enough to fit most of the stuff i want in there, but i actually have a second identical one that i can flip upside down and mount on top of this one for expansion in case i need that later

this is what a mini rack looks like, we're aiming for these aesthetics, but without having to buy all of the materials

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

Some of this infrastructure software is available in like a Million different projects that try to solve the same problem in a myriad of different ways

so imma do the thing that is only reasonable: make my own solution 😅

but i'll keep it super simple and mostly in a spit and ducttape kinda vibe, i'll document it as i go, but software will have to wait because we're moving onto converting the ITX case into a server rack using the magic of and , which will take a while 😅

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

alright, main "rack rail" part has been designed, and i've cancelled the print 5 times now before it even started because i forgot "just one thing" 🤦

I'll make a full rundown of the design of this part soon, given that it works lol

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

under construction ✨

video/mp4

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

second side also "fits"

thank god plastic can be forgiving allows itself to be shaped a lil by forcing it

the construction is not completely square, and it seems like its off by 1.2mm, which Should be fine

ill do the rundown tomorrow together with how it fits in the case ✨

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

i've been making some progress on harddrive caddies for sliding in the six harddrives into the cluster chassis ✨

i'll try and post more details of the stuff im working on behind the scenes! i've just been very busy with work and personal life recently, but it'll all be shared later, i promise! stay tuned 😊

bram OP ,
@bram@gamedev.lgbt avatar

update on the multi SBC compute cluster ✨

got it most of the way done, the networking and rack mounting is complete, just need to figure out a proper power supply solution 😊

its so cool :))

Welcome to 2025: it's time for this year's first :) Every Monday, I go over the backlog of community-approved pull requests to @bevy : the engine for (and apparently!) that I'm paid to maintain.

We're somehow at 18 PRs with two approvals: let's do a final review and get these merged :) https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+label%3AS-Ready-For-Final-Review
