Treatment with my local sleep medicine doctor has gone as it can, without any resolution. I have the two severe types of sleep apnea that cannot be treated due to a type of sleep disturbance, and I'm ok with that. But my specific sleep disturbance, ISWRD (irregular sleep wake rhythm disorder), does not seem to be resolvable locally. As background, this is most frequently seen in the elderly population in nursing homes, and thus I'm an outlier.
Would anyone happen to know of a specialist or facility that might be known for addressing ISWRD? Anywhere is fine as long as I can do telehealth.
Critters, how would I go about syncronising (some) browser bookmarks with a friend? :neocat_think_256:
In the best case FOSS and mostly hastle-free.
Our platforms are Firefox on:
Okay. I have been at this for several hours & I'm getting far too frustrated.
I am trying to figure out how to sync a #PocketPC to #Linux.
I came across Genesis Sync that is supposed to be a GUI for #SyncEvolution. Its only available as a tar.gz file.
In the file browser, I located & uncompressed the file with the archive manager but what do I do next? It just looks like a bunch of python & system files.
How do I install this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been trying out some Fediverse clients for Linux and none of them seem to be able to remember my position in the timeline if I navigate away.
So far I've tried Tuba, Tokodon and Whalebird. The latter won't even recognize my domain as a valid server, although that might be because I'm using GoToSocial.
Any recommendations?
(Yes, I could also not browse Fedi at work, but...that's not the point we're discussing here! 😅)
Oh yeah, I should probably explain why I'm not just using a web client. I do like Elk for most things, but for some reason the UI won't update for me without a hard reload. Like the unread counter on my notifications will just remain and trick me into thinking there's been something new and similar things. I've read somewhere that this might be a Firefox or LibreWolf limitation, but I'd rather not install another browser just for Fedi.
Several people have asked me to make a lockpicking zine for new folx, and I want to include some wisdom from y'all.
What are the top few tools in your kit that have gotten you into the most locks/places (specific pick profiles, bypass tools, turning tools)? It would be amazing if you provided a good quality, closeup photo of them so I can have an artist sketch them.
What's some advice you wish you had when you were still pretty new to lockpicking?
Please keep your responses to about ⅛ of a notebook page of text (like a few sentences) total.
Here are my answers:
A slim short hook, a sturdy medium hook, a two-hump w-rake, and a variety of turning tools.
If you can't open it with one of those tools, it's a skill issue. And you're better off learning more about the lock than reaching for another tool.
#AskFedi for those of you who are #blind or #VisuallyImpaired , or regularly use #ScreenReaders but aren't either, is it better for readability if I capitalise words in #hashtags or use underscores? My Mastodon app keeps suggesting no spacing or capitalisation, which I've been told is awful for readability, but it will sometimes suggest words separated by underscores instead.
Boosts appreciated so I have a more accurate idea of what is more accomodating.
Hey English or other gendered language-speaking friends. How would you feel if all pronouns would collapse to one? There would be no distinction, only one way to say “that person(s) who is not you”.
#AskFedi: What are the best #Linux distros for the Blind and low-vision people of any tech level?
What are the options for a blind install or preinstalls that have functional screen readers?
(I know the options aren't great, some assistive features are disappearing without explanation, but I want to believe there's something worth suggesting for this year.)
Some advice please: I'm looking for a smart watch for my ageing father, which constantly tracks heart rate and heart rhythm. Needs to be easy to use and not mechanically fiddly, and I can help him with associated apps etc. I know absolutely nothing about smart watches and reviews on the web are a quagmire of slop, does anyone have any experience and recommendations? Thank you! 💕
Boosts for reach welcome!
Can any instance operators offer an explanation as to why federating with Mastodon from an instance not running their software tends to be more difficult?
I've noticed lately that when viewing a profile from a Mastodon instance, their post history tends to be incomplete or otherwise missing. Any posts that are made recently tend to have a significant delay or don't show up on their profile at all.
I know that you can view the content from the remote instance in question for a complete profile, that you need to do so however does seem to be a failing on the part of the server software to properly federate and populate posts.
Could you help me find pieces of art, especially video pieces about autism from the perspective of the autistic person? Ideally, made by autistic artists or filmmakers. Preferably short films but any other kind of art piece would be welcome too.
I edit to add: I'm asking because one of my final project students, who is autistic, is planning to do a video about his autism and how he experiences it. I wanted to send him some previous works, for inspiration or as examples.
