Ironclad

The Drake Ironclad is a large armored cargo ship that is designed to safely transport large quantities of valuable cargo. Armed with a wide range of turrets and boasting a thick armored hull, the Ironclad is perfect for dangerous cargo runs in uncertain space.^[1]

Features

Command Module

The command module can be detached from the main hull and used as an independent ship. It serves as the ship's escape pod and may be re-attached to the ship. The command module is compatible with that of the Drake Caterpillar.^[2]

Large Cargo bay

An expansive cargo bay takes up the majority of the ship's interior, with both a main ramp and a retracting roof for inserting cargo from the outside and protecting it on the inside.

Secure storage

A small, extra-secure section of the ship can store valuable or dangerous cargo that shouldn't fall into the wrong hands.

Garage

A spacious garage in the back lets you bring along a variety of vehicles on your journey.

Lore

The Ironclad and Ironclad Assault were unveiled by Drake Interplanetary during Drake DefenseCon 2954, an event run by Drake as a tagalong to the Invictus Launch Week. The obvious aim was to eclipse the official convention.^[1]

Trivia

The community has affectionately dubbed the Ironclad with playful nicknames like "Fatterpillar" and "Ironchad".
The Ironclad was originally concepted with a cargo capacity of 1,536 SCU but after the developers removed some ladders this removed the need for walkways which allowed them to increase the cargo capacity to 2,204 SCU^[5]
