The Idris-P (Peacekeeper) is a variant of the Idris frigate developed by Aegis Dynamics. This vessel is specifically tailored for civilian use, having had all military-grade equipment removed. Featuring two hangars capable of housing three small vessels and one snub craft, along with enhanced cargo capacity and numerous gun turrets, it serves as an optimal choice for militia, corporate, and private entities in various different roles.[1][2][3]

Features

Primary hangar
The main hangar extends through the central axis of the ship, featuring entrances at both the front and rear. It is specifically engineered to comfortably accommodate and service three small ships on allocated landing platforms. All operations are managed by a traffic control room that overlooks the flight deck.
Secondary Hangar
The vessel is equipped with a secondary hangar located on its underside, specifically intended for the accommodation of an Argo MPUV-1P or a MPUV-1C ship, which is primarily utilized for the transfer of cargo and personnel, typically between other capital ships.
Cargo
The P variant provides enhanced cargo capacity, albeit at the cost of diminished weaponry and armor relative to the M version. Cargo is organized on grids located along the sides of the primary hangar, in addition to two cargo rooms situated on the main deck level, with one equipped with dedicated lifts that offer direct access to the main hangar.
Manned turrets
The Idris-P is equipped with eight crewed turrets, each designed to accommodate two Size 5 guns.
Remote turrets
The vessel is additionally outfitted with four remote turrets, each armed with a pair of Size 4 guns.
PDC turrets
This substantial vessel is equipped with six Size 2 bespoke point defense cannons, which are designed to take out incoming ordnance and engage nearby enemy ships. Additionally, it features five vacant hardpoints that can be utilized at a later stage.
Spinal mount hardpoint
Although the Peacekeeper variant does not include the notorious Size 10 spinal mount gun as a standard feature, it possesses the capability to be equipped with it at a subsequent time.
Habitation
Designed to accommodate a crew of 28, the ship contains shared crew quarters, bathroom/showers, mess hall and various other amenities.
Brig
The vessel includes a brig equipped with six holding cells, along with a specialized security station that is capable of monitoring these cells through closed-circuit television.
Medical ward
Equipped with a comprehensive medical bay that includes 1x Tier 2 and 4x Tier 3 MedBeds, this facility facilitates the effective treatment of injured personnel, along with regeneration capabilities associated with the respective tiers as of Alpha 4.3.1

Lore

For the first two hundred years of production, Idrises were reliably scrapped upon decommissioning; a requirement specified by law for all capital assets by the early UEE government. While Aegis' shipbreakers were forbidden from salvaging and reusing systems, they were able to recycle roughly 35% of the scrap tonnage in the construction of newly produced frigates.

In 2801, with the passage of the first Surplus Act that gave approved civilian organizations the rights to bid on properly-demilitarized but still-functional spacecraft up to and including destroyer-class vessels. For Idrises, the keel-mounted gun needed to be permanently disabled and all classified subsystems, such as military-spec targeting software, needed to be removed. The law was primarily passed to allow citizens to purchase former freighters and the initial reception to the availability of former military frigates was generally cold. Within two decades, however, the need for larger-scale fighting ships had become greater and Aegis was forced to significantly expand its investment in mining corporations in order to make up for lost scrap resources. Simultaneously, additional citizen armament laws loosened the restrictions on what equipment could be sold off and to whom it could be sold to, gradually going from authorized militia forces to corporate and finally private entities.

In 2875, as the demand for civilianized Idrises combined with expanding life cycles for existing military ships had outstripped the Navy's ability to decommission existing ships, Aegis launched first-ever Idris Peacekeeper (Idris-P), a purpose-built ship nearly identical in form to the military model (retroactively called the Idris Military or Idris-M), lacking only the main gun mount (which could be readily rebuilt on the secondary market). For the first time, civilian organizations could purchase not only the increasingly limited number of UEEN surplus ships but also commission the construction of their own spacecraft directly from Aegis. The popularity of the Idris platform, already cushioned by generations of developed support system, exploded and had quadrupled by the turn of the century.[5]

Militia units have adopted the Idris, in its lighter Idris-P variety. The Idris-P patrol design is available in limited quantities on the civilian market, and it continues to rehabilitate Aegis' reputation, having become something of a luxury item. Idris captaincy is considered a prestigious position and Citizens frequently compete to purchase the limited number of civilian craft the company can produce.[6]

Development

2023-11-01 In CitizenCon 2023, CIG announced that all variants of the Idris will be delivered to the owners after Squadron 42 releases.[7]
2025-05-15 The Idris-P was made flyable on the first day of the Invictus 2955 event. An updated model, intended for use in Squadron 42, will supersede the current model following the game's launch.[2]
2025-05-13 Idris-P implemented in Alpha 4.1.1.
