No info about the price yet. What do you think?

Reason 10 To Choose Linux 😍

Linux 🐧 is more private, by default

Own and control your data!

Your operating system won't record your key strokes or dictation, collect lists of devices and their Wi-Fi details, or webcams, printers and anything else plugged in and then send that back to Big Tech HQ.

It's possible to avoid data collection altogether, from the start.

With YOU decide how to share YOUR data.

@Endof10 not if you use a web browser...

boilingsteam ,
@boilingsteam@mastodon.cloud avatar

@nanianmichaels @Endof10 I am aware but at the same time I dont know any Linux user who does not use web browsers and they leak much more private data than your OS

boilingsteam ,
@boilingsteam@mastodon.cloud avatar

@nanianmichaels @Endof10
I mean, don't lie to your potential users by pretending a new OS is a miracle solution for your privacy, when it's obviously not if you do anything online.

If you're still on X11, I want to know why, I don't want theoretical things you could do but don't actually care about. But the actual real reasons that X11 is keeping you on it.

Why are you still an X11 user in 2025?

boilingsteam ,
@boilingsteam@mastodon.cloud avatar

@BrodieOnLinux There are many good reasons to still use X - it's way more flexible and ultimately a protocol that is much more simple than Wayland, and works across the network if you need it. Wayland's relationship with compositors is way more complex (and messy) at the end of the day

I often see people take "don't break userspace" at face value, in the same way I see "UNIX philosophy", it might be time to actually explain what this was supposed to mean

boilingsteam ,
@boilingsteam@mastodon.cloud avatar

@BrodieOnLinux It's not that complicated. Ensure that the kernel has stable APIs, interfaces, and system calls that behave the same way over time so that your applications on user space don't break after a kernel update

boilingsteam ,
@boilingsteam@mastodon.cloud avatar

@BrodieOnLinux maybe I missed something. Who is talking about it when the kernel is not concerned?

What distros can you run on Microsoft Azure? RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE, and even their own distro, Azure Linux (which by the way uses bits of Fedora).

Microsoft working more closely with the Fedora Project will improve their service for your organization's Linux needs.

Valve's Steam Deck updates to Plasma 6.2.5!

The games console has a slow update cycle to guarantee stability for users, but announced yesterday that both the base system and the desktop environment are being updated to new preview releases.

I'll be doing a video on the Rust linux stuff, but the short story is Linus needs to put his foot down and decide what's happening with Rust, the way things are going can't be allowed to keep happening.

Either say you changed your mind Rust is not happening and tell the Rust fans to piss off and shut up about it, or tell the people trying hard to stop Rust to grow up and learn to work as a community. Sitting around watching these fights happen over and over again is a waste of everyone's time.

@BrodieOnLinux there's always the obvious option to fork instead of bitching all day long. but that's a lot more work than bitching on social networks
