They're gonna fuck up Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, aren't they? I was cautiosly optimistic about those two under Phil, but I'm pretty sure they're doomed now
MUNICH (AP) — A top European Union official on Sunday rejected the notion that Europe faces “civilizational erasure,” pushing back at criticism of the continent by the Trump administration. ...
That whole "civilizational erasure" quote was so vague, grand and threatening that it sounded just like it came straight out of kremlin. It's the kind of bullshit declaration russians love to make
The best audiophile headphones we've tested are the Sennheiser HD 800 S. These open-back over-ears have an outstanding soundstage that's large, natural, and spacious.
I know Sennheisers are german but those are also made in Romania these days. Nice to see Meze here as well
Anecdotally, while I love my sennies because nothing sounds like them, I'm still nursing a pair of older 559s and hoping they last forever because absolutely every single one of the newer ones I bought had or developed issues.
Starting in early March, the platform will place every account into a default "teen-appropriate" experience unless it has proof that users are adults. ...
Discord probably did the math and are willing to take a hit to the user counts (much like reddit did when they closed the apis), as the vast majority will stay and keep "threatening" to leave. There's at least the hope that the ones who quit now will establish communities elsewhere, on a (hopefully) better server platform.
One of the major changes with Civilization VI was that Firaxis had access to lot more player telemetry, compared to Civilisation V, rather than monitoring the feedback on Reddit and fansites like CivFanatics. Amongst other things, they discovered that most players don’t finish a single game, which is part of the reason for Civ 7’s more broken-up, modular historical progression.
So they used all that user data to change the future game to appeal to the lowest common denominator, as it were. And it resulted in the most controversial civ of recent years. And their plan for the future? Continue like this, of course - only now they're considering formalizing this approach with an official EA label. God I hate the gaming landscape these days
Omg wasn't this story on reddit a few days ago? Something is off here. Why would the cat simply stay there for 5 days? No cat would just sit there for that long - hunger usually gets the better of them and they risk jumping even if afraid at first. Also why haven't people done anything about that cat in the days since this was posted on reddit? If that cat really is stuck don't wait for the fkn electric company, get a fkn ladder and get the cat. Or get a blanket under the pole and prod the cat until it jumps. No one has been doing anything about that cat for 5 days, wtf?? None of this makes any sense
Am I the only one who thinks that Nvidia is analyzing the gameplay footage you play, to feed their Ai tools? And you login with your account in their cloud, in example your Steam account. They have access to everything theoretically. The Ai can analyze everything... ...
Pretty sure they do it but I don't mind it that much. If they're using that data to improve DLSS or whatever then it means at least it's helping to improve a service.
Privacy is not a yes/no flag, you can have different degrees of privacy across different types of activities online. I said I wouldn't mind them monitoring my game activity if I found it was used to improve one of their services. I was speculating. Just like you speculating that they do harvest the data and that they sell it to others ( not sure where that came from ). Also since you mention a steam account, do you think they're not harvesting your data so they can sell you things ( at the very least ) ? Why are you giving up on privacy?
Point is if you're online your activity will be monitored. If you want privacy play offline games on an offline machine, preferably on linux. Otherwise start to think about all the tools you use and if them harvesting your data is worth what you get in return
Stardew Valley has to be the most stressful "cozy" game I've played. Busywork, 24h day with exhaustion mechanics, timed and seasonal events etc. Let me tend to my garden dammit!
Factorio is a lot more relaxing - just disable aliens and build your optimised factory in peace
Edit: protip - If you want a chill gardening game, get Starbound and some plant mods.
I mean DDR3 is provably fine. I ran a 16GB DDR3 machine with a goddamn 2500k up until several years ago and pre-2020 games usually ran fine, on playable framerates ( i did have win7, not sure how win10 fares ). Question is: who is this article for? Most tech enhusiasts have probably moved on by now, and even those are a small subset of PC users. "Normies"? Those moved on to phones and tables - it's why MS Windows has lost 400million machines in 3 years. So who are all these people so left behind that DDR3 is an upgrade but are still currently itching to buy ram? I don't get it.
Pricing on this is something else, man. 70€ base, 100€ deluxe, 120€ for the premium. And they moved most of content into the premium tier. The only difference btw the 70 and the 100 € versions is the car pass ( which could act as a huge car pack as in the past they had a couple dozen cars ). Also the premium tier does not include future car packs ( which may be fair but i have a feeling they will nickle and dime us for cars already present in FH4/FH5 ). There's a good chance the game will be good, but you can also bet MS will squeeze us dry.
For an article quoting a study, this one is embarrasingly short on actual references or links to the reddit subs and posts it mentions. There's literally only a link to the 2018 study and the rest coild well be speculation.
Now I don't know about corporate manipulation, but what I can confirm I've seen is a lot of small businesses using reddit to shift opinions. For example: local rental car providers on the madeira sub. Or food retailers on my local city's sub.
And, more worryingly, there's an absurd amount of political propaganda. For example the waves of accounts on my native language sub supporting absolutely everything a political party does. Or the blatant manipulation being done on conservative. Or the sudden vanishing of near all kamala-supporting accounts in the morning following american election night. It's absolutely astounding.
TL;DR: Valve's upcoming Steam Machine, set for release in 2026, aims to combine affordability and ease of use. Recent leaks suggest prices around $950 for a 512GB model and $1,070 for 2TB, comparable to high-end devices, though official pricing remains unconfirmed amid memory supply challenges.
Euronews spoke to Patrick de Bellefeuille, a prominent Canadian weather presenter and climate specialist, on how Europe could benefit from Canada’s long experience with snowstorms. He has been forecasting for MétéoMédia, Canada’s top French-language weather network, since 1988. ...
Ffs, Euronews does know we have snowy winters in europe too, right?
Also no, this does not qualify as an "extreme" winter. This would've been a regular winter not 15 years ago. Extreme winter is one where you would be snow in april in Spain or something.
It's not my type of hair why I never watched it tell now. It's. Not that good. At least for me. But I wanted to watch it at least once all the way through. ...
I didn't really like it when it aired and avoided watching it for many years. Never was a fan if the BSG/Lost show format with constant drama and flashbacks. The episodic style of SG1 and Atlantis, that's my groove.
But I watched it all the way recently and honestly grew on me. Still not a fan of all the filler drama and style of plot, but it has its good moments. And there's some decent acting in there. Definitely worth a watch.
Not all orthodox. There's two orthodox churches actually. There's the greek orthodox church that uses the gregorian calendar and marks Christmas same as the catholics and the russian orthodox, who use the julian calendar which has 7 jan. Greek orthodox countries are greece, romania, bulgaria and now ukraine for example.
Here's my take on this, if anyone needs the info: I already have a nxtpaper and the screen is indeed great. Very pleasant to read on it and it also features a low brightness mode, particularly good for night reading ( awful in sunlight though ). I was tempted to get their new 11 tablet to see the new 4.0 screen, but they took out the jack, update to android 15 and added AI to the bloatware. And it looks like they did the same with this phone.
It's definitely flawed. But I found it to be original if nothing else and a breath of fresh air in a sea of extraction shooters, rogueliles and soulslikes. Rather reminded me of Death Stranding when it came out.
I mean, the historical and geographical context of the newer entries definitely adds to the satire, but GTA2 wasn't a bad game at all. I def liked it more 1 and 3 at the time. Interesting that the dev team wasn't fond of it.
So... Is this a good thing? Bad thing? Gut reaction says that probably not the greatest for GOG, being detached from a huge publisher like CD Projekt probably isn't great for a niche marketplace. In their faqs it states that GOG had a strong year financially but they would of course bill it that way. The question about why the ...
I'm having mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it could be better for gog to break away from a stock listed company that has proved on occasion it still behaves like a stock listed company and likely still do in the future. Also it seems like they're keeping their values.
On the other, gog has been fairly volatile and hasn't always returned a profit. Without a big company behind, it may be just a few years of unprofitability away from from going under. More worryingly though, it doesn't have the same staying power as steam or its infinite funds, so it might get harder to uphold those "no drm, independence" etc policies. Also, given their buyer profiles and how finicky gamers are in general, any single large controversy would also have immense impact.
I do too, but imagine the drop in donations/subscriptions if they were to pull a stunt like the one with steam/mastercard and porn games. Or if they were to not want to remove a game that features, say, the gaza genocide but on israel's side, or some other extremely divisive issue.
Europe faces a critical dependency on US cloud infrastructure, with 90% of its digital infrastructure controlled by American companies, according to competition expert Cristina Caffarra[^1]. This vulnerability has spurred concrete action, with public institutions in Austria, Germany, France and the International Criminal Court ...
The one surprising bit about this is the lack of E33. I know it's not Jason's fault but it irks me that every game news outlet repeatedly highlights the same dozen games or so. I'm following four of them and 80% of coverage and reviews is for the same games over and over again. Only digitalfoundry strays off on occasion, and that's because they aim towards a more technical discussion. There were literally 19000 games released on steam alone last year, and everyone seems to only cover E33, BG3, Blue Prince, Hollow Knight, Elden Ring, Avowed, CoD etc. I have to subscribe to obscure subs or youtube channels just to get coverage of the occasional forgotten indie.
I agree but these are usually supposed to be the first line when games/news hit the web, and sometimes it appears that the only decent journalist left is Schreier, with everyone else seemingly following him and his direction. Paid coverage definitely accounts for some of the overlap, but like you said it's probably just reviewers aiming for a greater audience.
There's always steam curated lists for the rest, I suppose.
I've been getting back into reading and while nothing will beat a physical book, having a device with multiple EPUBS seems like a good way to save space and money. After a bit of searching, I'm down to two options: Kobo (specifically the Libra Colour) and Boox (specifically the Go Color 7). I've discarded tablets because they're ...
Been looking at a kobo for years, but finally went with a boox go b/w because of the feaures. I hate closed systems and while kobo's isn't as closed it's still limited. Their store is way better than boox's though, I'll give them that.
Anyway the boox is fantastic. Thanks to android I've been able to read books, rss, even lemmy and reddit on it with minimal issues. They also have a "high speed" eink mode which makes scrolling tolerable on eink. Being android, the great downside is battery life. If you're doing any kind of reading outside of simple ebooks or you put it through anything cpu-intensive or scrolling-intensive, it will gobble up your battery in hours or days. Standby is fine however, can last for weeks. Oh and also because of android, booting takes longer than other e-readers ( and you'll probably do it more often then on a kobo too )
Hey, so for some time now i had this problem... I have been buying games from both gog and steam... Focuse on buying games from gog and if there isnt a game then buy it ...
I try to go GOG first, so I can keep the installation kits offline. There are however a lot of good indies on Steam, and few of these ever get ported from there. Steam workshop is also fantastic and doesn't really have a match on other platforms, and unlike GOG they provide good linux support. Also worth noting that some of the old games on GOG are inferior to their steam counterparts ( see Commander Keen for example ). So yes, I'd say both are good, but maybe prioritise GOG first.
