Today's watch - restored 1960's Błonie. These watches were only made for 3 years between 1959 and 1962. I bought this one from a watchmaker in Krakow who specialises in restorations.

The watch brand was revived about a decade ago and they make some super interesting watches in a classic Polish design aesthetic.

Retro white faced 36mm mechanical watch with minimal gold hour markers and delicate hands. Blue leather strap. Tiny lettering at the 6 hour marker reads "Made in Poland". The watch is on my wrist in a sunbeam. The light shines warmly off the curved perspex-like glass.

Despite lots of tinkering, I cannot get my Pac-Man watch to work again 😭. It worked fine when I first got it (used), but soon the battery died. Ever since then it's been dead. I can't think of anything else to do.

Just watched M3GAN yesterday! 🎬 This sci-fi horror flick from 2022 about a creepy AI doll "Toy" gone rogue is wild, good movie, loved it! 😱 The movie got me thinking about AI’s future, especially if we hit AGI like M3GAN. The idea of AI turning dangerous is chilling, could it really happen? Anyway, it's a good watch and part 2 is in cinema now!

My is great but the seconds hand has been acting up.

It frequently gets out of sync with where the watch thinks it is and sometimes even stuck ticking back and forth in timer mode.

A year ago or so when I got it, it'd work absolutely fine and smooth.

I don't require it to be accurate but it sure is annoying and I'd like to fix it.

I did a reset procedure without removing the battery as it should still have a year left but no change.

Any ideas?

An everyday capitalism-related warning: if you’re planning on buying an Apple Watch online with the solo loop, don’t. You can’t just send the strap back if there’s a problem with it (mine caused contact dermatitis after a few day’s use). They’ll happily take the whole order back though because, well, fuck you, I guess. Anyway, caveat emptor and all that. And your daily reminder that trillion-dollar corporations are all asshats.
