During the year’s busiest season of charitable giving, donors may wonder whether the nonprofits they are considering donating to are going to be good stewards of their money.
Sadly Martha Gill (behind Observer's paywall) makes the lame argument that the poor are failing to give enough to charity, citing the absolute donations made by the rich.
But, this ignores that the poorer in society has less actual money to give;
more importantly one should measure charity by the proportion of income/wealth donated not its monetary value.
As always on this measure the rich remain less charitable (giving a much smaller share than the poor)!

As you may have heard this month the US Government isn't funding a variety of programs including SNAP, a low income food program allowing poor people to buy groceries.
I've been on snap for many years as a disabled woman as are many of my friends. I believe I'll be able to make it through this month, (though it will be tight) there are people I personally know who may struggle and I worry about.
As such I'm opening $20 commissions for profile pictures to provide for those I care about. Receipts for food bank donations are also appreciated! Food banks will be hit extra hard this month.
