Intel just laid off 24,000 employees.

Among those layoffs are those responsible for several Linux Drivers.

Specifically:

  • Intel Ethernet RDMA driver
  • Intel PTP DFL ToD driver
  • Intel WWAN IOSM driver
  • Intel Keem Bay DRM driver
  • T7XX 5G WWAN driver

additionally, Intel's CPU temperature monitoring driver was left unmaintained/orphaned during the previous round of layoffs last month

Agreed, and I'm thinking less on the consumer end but more for like large scale, infrastructure Servers & etc, this could be bad news
