Less than 4 miles from Brightman Flat campground, off Hwy 108, there's a random road. I'm starting to believe EVERY random forest road holds some degree of adventure, but this one was next-level. Because THIS one had an awesome looking swimming hole next to cascades.
K and I braved the freezing water and surprisingly strong current to dunk our heads under the short waterfalls. Then we lounged around and soaked it all in.
A perfect day.
(I added the nav point to onX, because I'll be back!)
Two cans of beer are held in the foreground, partially obscuring a rushing river and rocky landscape in the background. The river flows over dark, rounded rocks, creating a small waterfall. The scene is brightly lit, with sunlight reflecting off the water.
2025 has been a whirlwind of adventures, lessons, and life-changing experiences. Unfortunately, my blog is still stuck on Day 11 of my epic Oregon Coast Trail hike, so we have some serious catching up to do.
Here's an overview of what's happening in my world, and what you can expect from my content in the future!
@killyourfm Ah, dang, the email subscriptions are going away 😭. I was enjoying reading them! 🙏 I've never been able to get into RSS 😔. I've dabbled on desktop Linux, but, after a couple of weeks, I forget to open the feed app and that's that. And I don't know how to use RSS on mobile at all ... Uff. But am pleased to see you happy exploring another direction 👏, and I look forward to some podcasts. Always really enjoyed your podcasts! 🙏Your voice always conveys such joy, passion, and enthusiasm!

Soooo I went a little too hard on my last outdoor adventure, and my body has forced a break! This is helping dramatically though. On the bright side, the timing doesn't suck -- I have lots of time to enjoy the new Switch 2, and catch up on reading and blog writing.

In this post #KDE presents Plasma as one of many great interfaces available in #Linux, and they include some tricks for making the migration from #Windows 10 easier.
Man, I felt pretty insecure about the shaven head look (need to update the profile pic in here too), but the comments on YouTube have been insanely supportive, insane confidence boost!
I never thought I’d reach a point where YouTube comments would make me feel better 😂
@thelinuxEXP Looking good with the rased look! 👏 Note though that when I zoomed the video on my phone, like I usually do to remove the black side bands, your head was chopped off and looked exactly like it always does! 😅
@frameworkcomputer Wondering ... does the screen orientation automatically flip when you flip the screen? Or do you manually need to change it in settings or with a shortcut? 🤔
During my first thru-hike next month, I plan to devote some of each morning to work, and some of the evening to a trail journal. And so the big question is: which laptop do I bring?
I was a bit surprised to see the
@frameworkcomputer 13 clocking in slightly lighter than my M1 MacBook Pro! Every ounce counts, but so does battery life.
If the Framework 13 (running
@fedora) can match the MacBook's battery life, it's coming along!
Any battery tips besides stuff like TLP or AutoCPU-Freq?
A laptop with various stickers is placed on a digital scale displaying a weight of 48.92 ounces.
Thanks for all the fun engagement yesterday around the Framework news.
See ya in a few days!

A reminder to those who manage #websites (I needed it myself):

For some reason, November marks the beginning of my Season of Music. That means I'm spinning up the #HurricaneBlondeMusic engine again! I'll be working on some old acoustic stuff that's been begging for release since the 90s, and a proper follow-up to my first EP.
@killyourfm Ah ... the nineties! Weird thinking that my daughters now see 90's music like I saw the Beatles and the Stones of my parents' generation. 😄 I was listening 90's Echobelly and Mogwai all last week! Such good music.
@elperronegro Mojeek is interesting - a British company - and a completely independent index. Metasearch is peculiar, and still relies on the others. Kagi - I would finish the free tier in a day, and not quite ready to shell out money for search 🤔 - but maybe I could give it a little try! 😄👏
