Why We Named It Best Patio Chair Overall

For an outdoor patio chair, you want something that’s durable, attractive and easy to maintain. Hati Home’s Bali Lounge Chair checks all of those boxes and then some. It’s crafted from teak and synthetic paper cord—two materials known for their exceptional durability and ability to withstand the elements.

The woven synthetic paper cord is also surprisingly comfortable, even without cushions. Throw pillows can personalize the look or add a bit of extra support, but the chair is enjoyable to lounge in as is. And its cushion-free design means there's less upkeep, making it an especially low-maintenance choice for outdoor living.

Expect A Natural Patina Over Time

When left untreated, teak naturally develops a beautiful silvery-gray patina over time. Buyers of this chair can expect its warm teak finish to gradually weather with exposure to the elements.

Many people choose teak specifically for this characteristic, but if you'd prefer to preserve its original color, clean the wood regularly, apply a teak protector once or twice a year and cover or store the chair when it's not in use.

  • Matching ottoman available for added comfort
  • Teak naturally fights against mildew and weathering

Why We Named It Best Adirondack Chair

After reviewing a variety of highly rated Adirondack chairs, we named Frontgate’s Rowan model as the top pick overall thanks to its durable teak construction, which, as mentioned earlier, naturally stands up to outdoor conditions. A contoured seat and rounded back add to its comfort, making it well suited for extended lounging.

Optional Ottoman For Further Comfort

If you prefer to kick your feet up, you can pair this particular chair with Frontgate’s Rowan Adirondack Ottoman. Like the chair, it’s crafted from sustainably harvested teak and features the same clean-lined design for a cohesive look. While it's sold separately, it's a worthwhile upgrade if you plan to spend long afternoons reading, relaxing or enjoying drinks on the patio.

Extra-Deep Seat For Comfortable Lounging

Standard seat depths on most outdoor lounge chairs range from about 16 to 20 inches, but this model offers a generous 24-inch seat depth. The result is a more relaxed, lounge-worthy seating experience that’s especially well suited to taller users or anyone who likes to curl up while seated.

Best Outdoor Lounge Chair

Built To Last Without Feeling Rigid

Outer Aluminum Outdoor Infinity Chaise Lounge Chair

Materials: Powder-coated aluminum frame, polyester and phthalate-free PVC, 100% solution-dyed Olefin | Dimensions: 83 x 28 x 11.9 inches| Colors: One | Warranty: 10-year warranty

What you’ll love:

  • Powder-coated aluminum construction
  • Adjustment lever positioned at arm’s length
  • Cover included

Keep in mind:

  • Heavy to move around as needed

Why We Named It Best Outdoor Lounge Chair

Built with a powder-coated aluminum frame—one of the most durable materials for outdoor furniture—and a polyester, phthalate-free PVC sling, this lounge chair proves that heavy-duty construction doesn’t have to come at the expense of comfort.

After testing them at home for several weeks, our home and kitchen editor Monica Petrucci says “lounging on these chairs just feels luxurious.” Among her favorite features are the adjustment lever, which is conveniently positioned within arm’s reach, and the included cover that attaches magnetically for easy installation and removal.

While the chair doesn’t come with a cushion (and Petrucci says it’s comfortable enough without one), coordinating cushions are available separately in five color options, including Pacific Fog Gray and Deep Sea Navy.

A Sturdy Design That's Best Left In Place

At 68 pounds, this lounge chair feels exceptionally solid and stable, even in windy conditions. Petrucci appreciated that it includes white-glove delivery, though she notes that its weight makes it difficult to relocate after assembly. It’s best to choose its permanent spot before it's set up.

What To Consider When Shopping For Patio Chairs

Frame Materials

When shopping for patio chairs, French says it's worth investing in a durable frame that will stand the test of time.

“One mistake we see people making when shopping for patio chairs is not thinking in terms of longevity,” she says. “They opt for a budget-friendly option versus something that will last more than one season.”

Her firm typically selects pieces made from high-performance aluminum or teak, provided the client is comfortable with the natural patina teak develops over time. HDPE is another excellent option, as this durable plastic resists cracking, splintering and fading while requiring very little maintenance.

“If you have to choose,” French adds, “make sure you spend on the frame.”

Outdoor Cushion Fabric

Not all outdoor cushions are built for long-term outdoor use. French says “quality is key” when evaluating fabrics. “You don’t want to be replacing these every season,” she says.

Solution-dyed acrylic is her top choice for outdoor cushions, and we'd agree. The color pigment is added to the polymer before it's spun into yarn, so the color is built into the fabric itself. This helps it resist fading over time, even with prolonged sun exposure.

French also advises avoiding nubby textures when selecting outdoor cushion fabrics. “Wind and dust are no friend to something like bouclé,” she warns.

Routine Maintenance

Proper care can help extend the life of your patio chairs. When they’re not in use for the season, consider storing them or using protective covers. “No matter the quality of the outdoor furniture you buy, the elements that come with both summer and winter will do damage to your pieces, but less so if you take time to cover them when not in use,” French says.

It's also important to follow the manufacturer's care instructions, including how to clean the frame and any cushions. Keeping up with routine maintenance will help preserve your investment and keep it looking its best for years to come.
