Quanti anziani cadono nelle truffe e nessuno parla di loro... Io sono tra quelle più contrarie alla verifica dell'età e i blocchi basati sull'età. Li fonderei più sulla conoscenza. I social dovrebbero darti delle basi su cultura generale, diritti umani, informatica, e ogni tot tempo devi aggiornarlo se no perdi possibilità di postare tot volte al giorno, di reazionare, commentare, condividere...

Perché a volte, quando fai una web app, non sempre hai tutte le conoscenze burocratiche del caso. Perciò (anche in buona fede) usi delle informazioni che invece non avresti diritto di usare.
Io per prima, mi sono trovata a suggerire il compromesso di controllare l'uso di screen reader su smartphone (voiceover o talkback) per evitare dei conflitti con chi si occupava di aspetto visivo. Dei raffazzonamenti che risolvevano delle urgenze ma, praticamente, dicevi all'app di controllare se sei cieco o no. Come se al dev dovesse interessare...
Roba di 15 anni fa, che ora ho messo nella lista delle worst practice salvo emergenze imponderabili.
Ma il referrer? Cioè dire al sito che si comporti in modo differente a seconda di quale sia la fonte da cui arriva il click?
Dire a uno "considera di iscriverti sul fediverso" se arriva da Facebook o altri social commerciali, è un utilizzo non consensuale di dati sensibili? Non credo, perché i referenti sono visibili anche nei plugin di statistica. Ma insomma...

Experimentation mode: I've played with a vibe coding platform and created a WordPress plugin. Not yet tried on platform, will see tomorrow.
Features:
one shortcode detects a list of referrers. From a txt file (allow list). Where most fediverse instances are in. Going to put as many of them as I can.
The other shortcode instead, checks if visitor comes from Facebook, X, etc.
Without getting usernames or data. Just the pages from where someone clicks.
And if there is a commercial platform, it will say "did you enjoy licking Trump's ass? Tell me the taste, I'll give you better recipes"

Sorry for the inconvenience. Bad people creativity always gets me off-guard. Upgrade your snac to this version ASAP, or revert to 2.85.

There will be another release pretty soon with a better solution to delete offending EmojiReacts.

@_elena @WeirdWriter @firesidefedi I'll speak English of course, or the main podcaster and his public won't understand a word. This is the step to allow Fediverse current user to know who's behind Elettrona. But then, I would like to find ways to talk about Fediverse in Italian circuits. There are very few folks advocating for it.
People at Devol are doing whatever they can, but they are the ones who are doing "the dirty work", I mean, they keep thing up. I have no technical skills for that but I can act by explaining. Make people aware that alternatives exist.

@_elena @niccolove @morloi We should start speaking about Fediverse in Italian more. It's not known so much here. American folks are more present on open social web, because as we say (let me translate it properly), "when water reaches your ass, it's time to learn swimming". United States have chosen a president who's very rigid, closed-minded, authoritarian, ultra-conservative. Progressive folks must find alternatives. Here in Italy the government is right wing oriented, but many people still believe it's not so rigid like american. The difference? Our governments kiss catholic church's and American government's boots.

    @pfefferle Another clue: even when the post is published, if I mention some fediverse user in the post, they will not be shown and linked, and the user won't receive notification. I'm finishing work soon, and will send detailed support request from home

    When you moved, did you get a flood of email notifications about your followers transferring to the new Mastodon server?

    If you did get a flood of emails, how recently did you move your account?

    @FediTips Yes, I had a lot of incoming e-mail. It might have been my mistake as I didn't deactivate e-mail notifications from the preferences, here in poliversity, when I migrated from MastodonUno

Formerly facebook, now stable on Mastodon - formerly "talksina" on MastodonUno italian instance; still "talksina" as handle into Linkedin, WordPress .org profile, google (till it lasts) and github, as it's impossible to edit profile name. I believe in data liberation and ownership. I work on accessibility (web and apps), I have a disability myself (totally blind). Blogger, WordPress user and MarkDown lover, interested in electronic voices and creating audio-dramas with text-to-speech. AI user, moderately optimistic. HIV awareness advocate. Firmly against tech-based "age verification" on sexuality related sites. Education should do the job, allowing governments to control Internet is introduction to censorship.
