Today I am stepping down from my role as the CEO of . Though this has been in the works for a while, I can't say I've fully processed how I feel about it. There is a bittersweet part to it, and I think I will miss it, but it also felt necessary. It feels like a goodbye, but it isn't—I intend to stay on and continue to advise the new leadership and contribute, because Mastodon—and the fediverse—is one of the very few beacons of hope for a better web.

I cleaned up today and found a floppy disk. Popped it in a convenient Quadra and it had a screenshot from more than thirty years ago (1995!) with a DOpus window open showing a list of files in one of my pics folders.

I still have the same files backed up on my NAS.

ARE YOUR BACKUPS WORKING?

A screenshot from today on my iMac showing the same file as in the previous pic, e’n’f’n’b, 109376 bytes - on my NAS. Because backups work. It’s erroneously called a Unix Executable File cos the macos doesn’t know what a deluxepaint iff file is.
The picture referred to in the main post, a riff on the guns n roses logo for an album I can’t remember of a bullet shell and gooey blood, pistols and roses. Instead of the guns n roses text it advertises Enconn BBS. It’s a 16 colour deluxepaint image with hand dithered shading.

    @grumpygamer See it as a way to potentially generate ideas you wouldn’t otherwise have? A friend of mine uses a tarot deck that way when he feels stuck on something.
