Are We Wired to Believe in God? - No Nonsense Spirituality | Britt Hartley

Why do autistic people tend to believe in God less often — and what does that reveal about the origin of religion itself? In this video, Brit Hartley from No-Nonsense Spirituality dives deep into psychology, evolution, and the autistic mind to explore whether autism can serve as a control group for understanding belief.

Wondering how my ND fam deals with RSD while participating in social media. Feeling like it's been triggered too many times here lately. Like most comments are to correct me, take me down a peg vibe... or plain ignoring ofc. And I am writing on a second language, don't keep posting about my work (and I am self-employed dependant on sales). So incredibly frustrating most of the time. If I give up, here comes more isolation. How do you do it? actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd

@timo21 actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd wow that's very interesting and makes so much sense! Like eye contact but for words. Ironically in portuguese, my 1st language, one can get away much more with not using personal pronouns. In a burnout so communicating is extra shit for me now. Today, a window of opportunity opened up. Hopefully some support will come in as well and not only correction. One can only hope! I was diagnosed not long ago at 57 so am learning everyday. Thanks 💗

actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd it feels like I will never get it "right" no matter how much I try. I haven't been posting my own words, doing it less and less feeling it is hopeless. Even more so in English. Any others here English isn't their first language either? How being bi/multi-lingual helps or hinders I wonder, especially under a burnout

@VulcanTourist actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd that sounds familiar, even maybe loyalty, too. Who leaves others standing alone, right? Comradery, class consciousness, injustice sensitivity... all in the mix I suspect

@matty actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd yes, so relatable! And it seems that connections are taken as disposable, more and more. So the attitude of being right as against nurturing community gradually became the norm. In even more individualistic cultures is plainer to see, I find.

Sorry this has been your experience, too. Hope you've found online spaces where you thrive. If not, may we have the energy to keep trying ♡

@murdoc actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group actuallyadhd@a.gup.pe icon actuallyadhd group @actuallyaudhd I rarely comment on other's posts, the ones I mentioned are comments on my posts correcting my words. I delete and block. I have never done this to anyone, I wouldn't dare. The pull is to people-please especially as AFAB AuDHD and an immigrant (keep yout heard down, don't rock the boat!). Anyways, when someone who never connects in anyway, only do it to correct me, it feels nasty.
Thing is, not sure if I am doing something to invite that 😒

Tho not sure how to be careful where I intereact if I only post, not going anywhere to comment, more cafeful than that is to not post at all. "Take space" "Use your voice" only to be picked on like for using an Instagram link and not thoroughly describing what was in the post. Jeez just don't bother, scroll on ffs my energy was low posting at all was already a small miracle 😅

Like you, been feeling I get very little back. Add salt to injury, I boost a load of other's posts but when I ask, the only time I ask to pls boost, for a class thing not even a me thing, I had to pratically beg. Multiple times. One can think, oh just lower expectations, well the brain doesn't work like that, we expect. And I lived through comradery on SM. Strangers lifting each other. It sucks now!

My son, just got his Btec level 3 results (A level equivalent) 2 x Distinction and a D* - equivalent to A,A,A* at A level. He's no savant, and has needed SEN support all his life. But thanks to an excellent high school who provided the correct support he did well at GCSE and has thrived and thoroughly enjoyed his equally supportive 6th form college. He's doing a BMus next and we're confident he will be supported there too. Most important, he's happy and proudly actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group

The Princeton Study: Another Redundant Way to Divide Us actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group

Qualitative research can be a powerful tool. Sometimes, rather than using solid numerical data, qualitative research often focuses on grouping together trends and themes. This can be useful when studying various kinds of social phenomena and gaining an understanding that plain numbers simply cannot capture.

I won't switch today: looking after my mom, dealing with lots of bureaucracy and challenges after my father's passing - no spare time.

Been on Facebook since 2009, living away from my birth place, so FB is how we keep in touch. Besides, as a self-employed artist who mostly depends on sales, there's been a LOT of work put on my FB/Instagram work pages. A real bummer!

On Mastodon since Twitter was brought by Musky. Gradually, I'll do the whole switch
