So is anyone involved in organizing the End Of 10 campaign actually trying to organize any sort of promotional campaign, I've not received any sort of correspondence about being involved in a mass promotion, some date where everyone is going to post a video, starting a hashtag campaign, trying to activate users outside of the Linux bubble in any way on platforms like Twitter and Bluesky, or trying to encourage non Linux people to talk about it. @Endof10

You are not only able to contribute, but are encouraged to.

Imagine becoming part of a huge global team with the goal to make better software for everybody. You are part of something much bigger than yourself, and you often make friends in the process.

Not only that, you also learn how to work with other people in a community, which is a very valuable skill in any career.

"Fun" fact about @Endof10 shenanigans: yesterday my partner got a call from their mother.

Apparently, their 10-year-old PC running got the information that support for the OS is going to end.

The PC is running just fine, and works perfectly for their needs, which are basically web browsing and web games.

They're in another country, so there's no way for us to help them with this right now, though they now know the options: get a new machine and pay for it, or get on it, though in this case they'll need to keep using it until they can come here, which at best will be early next year.

So, at some point during the call the sentence "if you can get a return flight here for under €500, it will be cheaper than getting a new PC" was uttered, and sadly enough that's unfortunately the truth.

Because I wouldn't recommend them anything under that price for any long-term use like they'll need...

I was talking to my great uncle about , and he couldn't believe that it was possible to have a system that was faster, more stable, and less resource-consuming than and free of cost on top of everything else!

A friend was talking about the possibility of data being mined from discarded laptop hard-drives, but when I mentioned tools to zerofill and otherwise obfuscate the data, she wondered "how can I trust a software to actually clear the data it says it's clearing?"

Ok, day one of pitting against .

The mid level complexity file I was working on with was giving errors.

Switch to Win/ , take the same template and all was working fine.

Is on only working for developers ?

If it does not work for one excel file, you can not trust it on others, you can not collaborate with other people using excel. Also, basic shortcuts that work on excel were not working on libreoffice.

Thoughts?

No online account, no working computer!

That account enables and saves your files to the cloud, by default. It helps upsell , , and subscriptions. And it means Microsoft can more easily track users across its services.

Whether the user wants it or not.

Yes, there are ways to bypass this restriction … but that's not really a solution, is it?
