I didn't know that "Wacky Races" got a reboot in 2017. But looking at it, it looks as "clean", cheap and boring as many modern cartoons look to me. (even several that I enjoy).

I wish more new cartoons would get me to say "damn, that's beautiful", but I guess that would just increase production costs to unreasonable levels for the studios.

Lackadaisy looks nice, but hey, that's an indie thing, of course indie people do cool stuff. 😁

Okay, as I mentioned CD albums today, I just went through all my old pile of CDs and extracted all the ones from it that still were complete sets.

Surprisingly many, including the Avantasia one I wanted to have again. 😁

Now, time to see if they're still in working condition as, sadly, teenager and very young adult me wasn't much of a... careful collector or something.

I just want to say, while I mostly talk about Judy in the context of Zootopia, I really love Karen's design and would like to see more of her and also hug her and see how many tries it would take to get her used to not rip me apart for it.

But who knows, maybe that's part of why I wanna try it? 😁

Also...there was a nice...erm...fanart of that Maplesticks woman...but that's a different post.

I suddenly kinda feel the need to write a short, emotional scene about her, BUT there's really nothing said about her personality except anger issues and attacking her police partner, not even the way she talks or anything.

Thus everything I'd write would be completely made up based on her looks and aggression, which means I'd subconsciously write her like my own character Gaea that I also consider easy to anger (not as easy as Karen, though^^) and being bitey, and that feels like an unfair assumption.

So I can only hope they feature her in Zootopia 3 again or...maybe we'll get a "Zootopia++" show? 😁

Anyway, I wanna hug her, and when I wake up in the hospital afterwards with her worried about how much blood I lost, she'll finally agree and I'll tell her the hug was worth the blood loss!

As you might know, I enjoy overthinking fictional (games and cartoons usually) economies and currencies.

For example, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic has highly inconsistent prices. 😁

What I just stumbled about:

In some issue of the Dungeons and Dragons handbook, the daily lifestyle expenses read:

Poor (simple food and lodgings): 2 Silver per day

In Baldur's Gate 3, a single Cormyr apple costs 2 GOLD.
A bottle water (to be fair, including the bottle) is 5 Gold.
A boiled potatoe is 4 Gold.

(All base prices)

That said, BG3 also ONLY uses Gold and uses none of the lower denominations, so, maybe prices are more fitting in the actual DnD rulebooks. 😁

That said, a non-magical gold ring is 20 Gold, so, the price of five boiled potatoes. 😁😅

It's the weekend!
Time to hopefully tidy up a little bit (I'm doubting it!), prepare a package, watch more Gumball and...mhh...download more images of cartoon crushes!?

Also, I have a battery powered DAB+ radio in case of internet and possibly medium-long power outages, but maybe I should replace that with one that also has solar and a hand crank? Ahh, we shall see!

Also, I wanna place Meshtastic nodes everywhere now because it's kinda awesome to know you can have "networks" that are completely independent from bigger networks!

I need to combine all these things somehow!

I'm using noon to clean and re-sort my everyday backpack, considering what I really realistically (or for fun) need.

This also means me once again watching more EDC (Every Day Carry) videos in the background.

Mhh...if I finally got rid of the condoms I'll never gonna use I could put hard/pointy stuff in that pocket instead, gonna be realistic...okay, maybe I'll just get a little metal container for the condoms and tampons. 🤔

I still wonder which is better for preservation purposes: physical or digital (DRM-free) books.

The advantage of physical books:

  • They're, well, actually there
  • Work without electricity, or other devices in general

The advantage of digital, DRM-free books:

  • Can easily be copied and making backups is simple
  • Are easier protected from stuff like fire and UV rays (as long as backups/versions are kept in multiple places

Accessibility point: eBooks on eReaders can be set to bigger font sizes

Now, I think this is not really an either/or situation.

I think both of them are important and should be kept. The more important point, I guess, is keeping the digital ones DRM-free.

We often find reasons to complain about the "enshittification" of the internet. And that's valid and sadly very true!

But I want to say, along my whole life of using the internet, one thing I really enjoyed becoming part of is are Wikis. And I'm not just talking about Wikipedia, but just in general the collaborative effort to bundle knowledge and references.

There's basically a wiki for every TV show and game series, and I absolutely love that, especially when they include links to background info, director statements and such that you'd hardly find collected anywhere else.

So, yeah, wikis about specific shows and interests are awesome!

The only sad bad is that so many of them are hosted by that horrible fandom dot com website, but well, not everyone can take care of hosting. 😢

I'd love to contribute more to them. Sometimes I re-watch full shows, like with the Gummibears some months ago. I could use that to add many small details.

But yeah, I know, it might be nitpicky, but I'd only do that for stuff not hosted at "Fandom". I know, Wiki stuff is usually under open licenses and it could be used by anyone, anyway, but I don't feel to contribute to their horrible ad and AI income. Gotta check which stuff I'm into is hosted "independently".

I finally watched "Shutter Island" just now.

After my disappointing movie endeavors yesterday, this one certainly did not disappoint me. Damn, that was quite impressive.

The very end is very depressing, but well, it is fitting, after all.

So, yeah, good movie, fucked up and depressing in many ways, but in a well-done way.

KDE's Dolphin crashes as soon as I try to access an SMB share with it (after entering login details). I thought this was resolved long ago in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451050

I do NOT get any error report, it just closes.

Online I found an instruction to use "valgrind" instead, but Valgrind also complains about "a function redirection which is mandatory for this platform-tool combination cannot be set up."

I love providing error logs and stuff if it helps people, but if even getting error logs requires more work than fixing the error for me...I think I'll just watch stuff on my TV then. 😭

I'll ask people with more clue in the future...maybe. sighs

I watched a video that makes fun about those "woke detector" videogame "reviews" that call out videogames for "being woke" because they, you know, include playable women and such. 😁

Luckily I've reached a state of mind where such doesn't aggravate me anymore but just makes me laugh about the people with such fragile egos.

Anyway, I added a progress pride, antifa and vegan flag to my carrd page, just in case I'm making my stance not obvious enough and also to piss people who unironically use such review groups off. 😁

There is this take that LGBT+ folks and vegans and such always "push their agenda" onto others. This, obviously, is humbug. All of us just wants to, ya know, not be killed.

NOT because "I need to shove it into everyone's face" (I am not even queer myself, well, not really. Depending on definition.) No, but to show THESE assholes they're not welcome! And to show the non-assholes that they're safe among friends!

It doesn't matter that Aloy in Horizon 2 can wear pride facepaint. It's a single player game, no one will see it! But it sends a message on where the developers stand! And that's what I want to do and be, as well!

Okay, I once again tried to finish "Sonic Colors", and I just can't get it done.

I have absolutely not a single bit of fun with Sonic games, the 3D ones feel so... strange and the 2D ones I suck even more at.

It's so depressing that I love a franchise's characters so much but absolutely dislike the games.sighs

I guess I'll have to stick to the racing games (and "The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog") forever. 😭

I wrote something in an online editor that (sadly) only exports as docx file, but well, so be it.

If I work with that file in LibreOffice Writer and export if to PDF and TXT, everything works, more or less.

If I do the same in actual Microsoft Word, which docx is native for, it screws up all Unicode characters and breaks tons of things.

I ASSUME it is my fault for not checking the character encoding in advance, I...I think it used ANSI instead of UTF-8 and then exporting/re-encoding broke shit.

So, I GUESS I am to blame. But the fact that shit just worked in "Writer" and causes me a headache in Word shows me I better stick to Writer. 😅

All in all: fuck formatting, just give me reading tools that display plain text easily readable (like Firefox's Reader mode) and I'll be okay. 😅

My car is being checked for replacing a small plastic thingy.

No matter if it'll be fixed or not, I'll get it back tomorrow (if it can get fixed quickly) or Friday (even if unfixed because I'll really need it this weekend.)

Tomorrow would work fine, but Friday would be muuuch more complicated because I had to get to the dealership somehow.

And simply not even knowing which of these will happen stresses me because I assume it'll be the worse outcome.

I said everything is better with a mascot, right? 😁

I learned that Tyson Tan, the artist that, among other things, did the KDE and Krita mascot, also designed a mascot, Libbie, for LibreOffice, but the mascot contest was cancelled because stuff wasn't "professional enough" or something. BUT all his art was available, thus, I took inspiration by this (outdated) project https://github.com/sdomi/libbieoffice and set my own Libbie Splash & Icons with his artwork.

Download and info in reply.

@fennek All Tyson Tan stuff is awesome!
He also did the redesign of KDE's Konqi and the design of Kiki, Krita's mascot, and one for KDE's "Kate" text editor. Albeit I've...never actually seen it in the editor itself.

(And he's also the concept artist for "Freedom Planet 2".)
