We should just add porn to everything.

Not for the sake of it, but just to make sure big corporations keep their fingers out of it and don't buy everything.

(Yes, I know, they can still buy and then remove it, I've seen Tumblr and such, I'm just being tired and anti-corporation here. 😅)

@BryanGreyson That's what usual SFW furry stickers do on technical blogs. Both making it cuter and suggesting quality to furries, and becoming unreadable for corporate people.

Announcement: I do not EVER use AI in my artwork.

Being accused of using it is so deeply offensive given how much time, effort and love goes into making art.

Artists, how do YOU respond to such accusations?

Shit is so tiring and infuriating.

Screenshot of posts on Mastodon where a person states "My apologies. My comments were not intended to be offensive. I was trying to say I prefer real cats." Joy responds, "understand that accusing someone of using AI is deeply offensive. You are saying that an artist's creativity and hours of work are nothing but fake and machine made. If you don't like paintings and prefer photos, please just scroll on." (Shit is infuriating omg)

@joyousjoyness Not an artist, but (or since) I understand your work as involving a huge amount of effort in interpreting a photo and placing all the lines you draw, and with pictures like these also choosing the colors. I feel there is a lot of meaning in what you draw.

I like both photos and art of animals, also seeing a reference next to the finished or in progress art.

Talking intimately with other queer folks of (more or less) my age from all walks of life and seeing how they are all broken, tired, exhausted and insecure in different ways is very eye-opening.

It's actually somewhat comforting, as strange it sounds. Not in the "haha, sucks to be you" way obviously, but in the "we're all in this together" and "let's share the burden" kind of way.

@endali Maybe, but I feel this with a lot of other goth songs you share (and they remind me of what I heard at RTTB).

If that was synth-pop or metal, then I'd know what to look for to learn how it differs from other music.

just passed the first film off for development :neocat:

was 41 zł including scanning, they didnt' make it more expensive despite it being 72 shots thankfully

gotta wait a week now though

lukyan ,
@lukyan@lukyan.eu avatar

@endali Wouldn't the cost mostly scale with the length of the film, not the number of frames?

This made me learn that a roll of film usually has 36 frames (I somehow misremembered 24 as the standard) and one roll of vertical (half-frame) photos is more than I'd take with my digital camera during one intense day. This is encouraging.

@endali@tech.lgbt avatar endali , (edited ) to random

Folks, I've got a question, and I imagine some of you might be able to help. :boosts_ok_gay:
I want to get an analogue camera, and I want it to be cheap.
I'm actually not looking for something thats great, I specifically want something that almost has a polaroid or even Kodak disposable camera quality to it, without actually being disposable. The film for it should be readily available, however.
I'm not looking to be a proffesional photographer, I just want to take pictures that look like they were taken in a drunken fit in the 90s.
Is there anything easily available that would be like this?

Clarification: I dont want it to be an instant camera, not what I'm looking for. I want something that's like a Kodak FunSaver, without being single use plastic trash

Update: Might end up going for the Kodak Ektar H35N, thanks everybody!

lukyan ,
@lukyan@lukyan.eu avatar

@endali No experience, but after reading your post and looking at what the local camera store has, Kodak M35 and maybe H35 seem exactly what you are looking for.

I think H35 has a wider field of view than the disposable one, and extra features.

@hauchvonstaub@nrw.social avatar hauchvonstaub , to ActuallyAutistic group German

In my experience, one of the biggest cause for misconceptions about "autistic literal thinking" is the implication and sometimes even assumption, that words have inherent meaning.

Words in their most basic definition are just sounds associated with meaning.
The same or a similar sound can have a widely different meaning in different languages, or even in the same language.

So metaphors are just another meaning, another association with a sound, that can be made.

actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group

lukyan ,
@lukyan@lukyan.eu avatar

@hauchvonstaub actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group This might be more of an ESL experience, but there are so many phrases which seem to have literal meanings (based on the contained words), but I see them used only as metaphors. I usually won't write them without first checking a dictionary.

This is in Internet contexts where I'm likely just a reader, and I get no negative feedback for not knowing what a phrase is expected to mean.

lukyan ,
@lukyan@lukyan.eu avatar

@punishmenthurts @hauchvonstaub actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group Yes: "literal" meanings are usually old references to something. I did have the problem in school literature classes that "metaphors" were only specific approved memes, not every literal metaphor.

Seeing "the upper hand", I see so many both literal and figurative movie scenes of someone falling but being held by another. Sometimes the upper hand is literally a set of paws. And the words for a hand might be metaphors for reaching or gaining.
