Rode my to Valley of the Giants Outstanding Natural Area, idk, maybe last week, it's all a blur because I do this too much

The name says it all. It's in Oregon, USA. It's hard to get to by car or bike. It's closed to cars right now. It's always really fucking hard out there. I'm not kidding

60 miles / 7000 ft elevation / all day long
96 km / 2133 m elevation / also all day long in metric

A trail winds through misty tall moss-covered old-growth trees
A fallen tree in a foggy forest, surrounded by moss and evergreen trees.

On the D&R canal, at least the part that wasn't an obstacle course. I was training for a bike tour from Pittsburgh to DC on the GAP and C&O trails. Since it's gravel, I rode the D&R for gravel practice. Turns out it was overkill because the GAP and most of C&O were super nice, but my practice on the D&R came in handy on the worst parts of the C&O.

A little pedestrian bridge across a canal in the forest, in soft partially cloudy sunlight.
Calm canal in the forest reflecting a partially cloudy sky, in soft afternoon sun. There are many little white flowers on the bank of the canal by the trail.

Christmas ride

Kinda rough out there, windy, chilly, rainy, and my back hurt a lot. Not a bad ride though

39.7mi / 5,324ft / 3:33
63.9km / 1,623m

That elevation is not right but it's not wrong. Probably more around 4000ft / 1219m

Near Seaside Oregon US

A long exposure photo of a river in a forested are with rocks and trees. Lush green trees, ferns, and moss surround
A mountain range under a gray sky, with trees on the slopes and mist in the valleys. Rain is creating a layered effect where the hills fade out as they get father away

In the natural world, what is the probably the most efficient traveler?

Probably a fish like a salmon

Not a horse. Not a bird like a pigeon. And a mouse is surprisingly inefficient

And not a human

But

Put us on a and it seems we have the entire natural world beat and all of our machines 😲

The fuel train from Belarus is wondering, if helping Putin was a good choice.

There are many videos of this incident in Smolensk, eastern Russia, and in some of them you can see typical cylindrical fuel cars that have been destroyed.

Luckily for the Russians, Putin has focused on transitioning away from fossil fuels, because wind energy will save them through the long cold winter months, and… no wait… that’s Finland. My bad.

Corporate cars play a crucial role in the EU's transition to zero-emission mobility.

We propose:

💼 Tax benefits for companies supporting the switch
🚖 Actions for taxis and ride-hailing
🛫 More decarbonised vehicles at airport rentals

An electric car should be the norm, not a luxury.

Is the car provided by your company zero-emission?

emon ,
@emon@masto.top avatar

@EUCommission what about LESS cars and LESS planes overall ?
Zero-emission tech is already there and it's called and .

You better support bike and train infrastructures instead of focusing on car and airplane decarbonation.
