A friend who admittedly does not pay close attention to politics asked me why so many on the Left say #CharlieKirk was a bad guy while so many on the right are praising him?
Vance equated religion with #US politics, first talking about how Kirk was a political debater, and then saying that Kirk “brought the truth that Jesus Christ was the King of Kings and that all truths flowed from this first and most important one.”
He then said that Kirk was “Athens and Jerusalem, the City of Reason and the City of God in one person.”
(It seems that if the Trump admin could canonize Kirk, they would.)
Vance is talking about how nice Kirk was to staffers, since he believed “We are all children of God.” (He repeats this idea several times throughout his speech.)
Then he lauded Kirk for inspiring Vance to talk more about “Jesus Christ” in his public life.
Vance said that Kirk was “taken from us by those who despise the virtues that actually made our civilization great to begin with— dialogue, truth-seeking, family, and faith.”
Notice how Vance also points fingers and multiple people (just like others who have spoken) — a conspiratorial “they” and “those” (people) were responsible for Kirk’s death, not a single shooter.
Now Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie #Kirk is speaking—
She is starting off with what looks like a silent prayer. Then she turned her head up to the ceiling and mouthed, “I love you.”
She then talked about Charlie Kirk’s “submission to the will of God,” and then quoted something from the Bible she claimed Charlie had said about God “using” him for his will.
She claims to have seen the “faintest smile” on her dead husband’s lips (a direct quote).

Now she is quoting Jesus’s words (in the New Testament) about how he would be persecuted, then she immediately pivots to talking about her late husband, again seeming to draw a parallel between Jesus and Kirk, talking about how the two of them took up their crosses.
