The Electoral Reform Society (ERS) looks at the results of the recent UK general election and highlights four outcomes. It was the most disproportional GE result in history, with only 15% of MPs elected with more than half the votes in their constituency. The system of voting needs serious reform.
So the anti-trans privatiser, who also called anyone who wants a publicly owned and operated health service, a load of "middle-class lefties", IS in as Health Secretary then.
I'm looking forward to finding out the 13 places in the UK that voted Reform UK so I can never go there in my life. :pepe_cool: #UKpol#ReformUK#GE2024#GeneralElection
6 seats left to count but basically Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Grant Shapps and Jacob Rees-Mogg and 248 other Tory MPs are off to get a sad face cake at Greggs #GeneralElection
The exit poll was largely right again, although it overestimated Reform (they only have 4 seats), and overestimated Conservative seats (lol). #GeneralElection
"Britain had its problems in 2010 – not least the impact of the 2008 financial crash – but it had strong public services and a visibly improved public realm..."Broken Britain”, it turns out, was a [Tory] campaign promise.
Jonn Elledge catalogues 14 years of terrible Tory policies.
Polling stations are now open. You can finally do something about it.

If true, this is astonishing. Ian Dale is reporting that Conservative Central Office has given up on many seats and is ordering-with threats-candidates with majorities less than 6k to stop campaigning and support Ministers with 20k+ majorities.
"I was once hopeful about politics. Under Corbyn, I believed a better Britain was possible. As a person who grew up working class, I found that his desire to scrap tuition fees really spoke to me.. Nationalised railways would have meant I could afford the commute to work. What’s more, he had a clear stance on Gaza.
With Starmer, I haven’t felt remotely the same"

You only have a few hours left to register to vote in the UK General Election. 96% of pensioners are registered to vote, but only two-thirds of people aged 18- 30.
People over 70 are much more likely to vote Tory ( not me!), so if you want to get the Tories out, register to vote on July 4th.
DO IT NOW!
You only need your National Insurance number to do it online.

My friend put me straight. Commonwealth citizens legally resident in the UK (regardless of how long we've been here) are allowed to vote. You just have to register.
Are you Canadian? Australian? Indian? Nigerian? If you're allowed to live here, you're allowed to vote.
Tories: The section on sex and gender equality starts with an attack on trans people, by claiming that “biological sex is a reality” and that the “majority” of UK citizens agree with this. No evidence is provided for this statement.
