If it matches the swipe-speed joy of mainstream apps while keeping open follows, portable identity, and community moderation, #creators get reach without lock-in.
One viral template or creator wave can turn #federation from concept into daily routine: and that’s how ecosystems tip.
#Loops key: frictionless onboarding, fast discovery, and easy cross-posting to other servers.
U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna is all in on open social, saying in a Creator Bill of Rights resolution he introduced in Congress on Jan. 15:
"Grant creators the ability to maintain decentralized, opt-in, direct relationships with audiences who choose to engage with their work, which enables creators to move between platforms without losing their audiences."
Instagram will award top creators with a gold ring. But no cash.
CNBC reports: "The program comes after Meta ended its Reels Play bonus program on Instagram and Facebook in 2023, which had been a key source of income for many creators."
A reminder that every company now experimenting with or using "AI" to write news releases or generate images to go with their blog posts or anything else has always had no interest or respect for the creative arts, be it drawing, painting, writing, composing, whatever.
It's just that, until now, they weren't able to obtain the necessary Content-Shaped Objects to fill those holes without hiring artists, writers, composers, etc.

YouTube Live gets a major update, introduces dual-format streaming, minigames, and more.
@Techcrunch reports: "This includes letting creators play mini-games to entertain viewers, broadcasting simultaneously in both horizontal and vertical formats, AI-powered highlights, reacting to live events, a new ad format, and more."
#QuestionOfTheDay name two people/groups/entities that were or could have been brilliant together if they could've just gotten along/gotten along for longer, but ultimately just couldn't coexist?
This can be artists, musicians, athletes, broadcasters, etc or even politicians, companies or countries I suppose if you want to really get global, but try not to make it too abstract or too much of a reach.
An example for instance is Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels who had their best matches with each other but also hated each other and those differences eventually (partially) led to the Montreal Screwjob.
Tattle Life, an online gossip forum that targets influencers and celebrities, which has been described as "the most toxic place on the internet," may be on its last legs. An Irish couple, Neil and Donna Sands, sued the site for hosting defamatory and harassing commentary about them and unveiled the founder as a vegan influencer and author called Sebastian Bond (who also used the name Helen McDougal). Cosmopolitan explains the site's background, how much money Bond was making from it, and how he was brought to justice.
It’s #NewstodonFriday once again, and we’ve tried to find the heartwarming, inspiring and funny in this week’s tsunami of terrible (though we couldn’t find the silver lining in everything). Highlights include

Not everything on the internet is real. Case in point: Your relationship with OnlyFans creators, it turns out. Two former subscribers from Illinois are suing the company because they thought they were talking directly to the platform’s stars rather than agencies hired to manage their messages.
