Another look at the mural I painted for 🪷Magic Flower Festival🪷
The theme for this project was: "Road to Recovery".
5 artists were given a list of 5 prompts to choose from.. after giving it some thought, I chose...
🔮“The Obsession Takes Hold”🔮
🔮“The Obsession Takes Hold”🔮
This piece embodies the internal struggle of obsession ~ the way it distorts perception, influences choices, and can consume the Self entirely.
A deranged, Murk-Bog frog, cloaked in dark robes and crowned with a strange, otherworldly hat. The rather large, wizardly hat represents both wisdom and burden, suggesting weariness under the weight of fixation & how addiction destabilizes the mind, flooding it with intensity while eroding clarity. It's grip around the glowing orb reveals how obsession can in turn take hold of the individual. The orb itself is bright, alluring, and impossible to ignore: a symbol for the substance, thought, or compulsion that consumes attention and energy.
Obsession itself has a kind of spell-like power.. one that can entrap, but also be studied, understood, and eventually overcome. Recovery begins with recognizing the enchantment for what it is: not truth, not self, but an external hold that can be released.
In this way, "The Obsession Takes Hold" acknowledges the grip of addiction while hinting that even in the strangest, most consuming forms, the path to freedom is still yet attainable.

I'll be exploring more of the lore side of things while working on the illustration version!

I finally finished watching Arcane and this piece is inspired by Jinx's nail polish. I used Winsor and Newton Cobalt Turquoise Light and Permanent Rose.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook. Using the Windsor and Newton Cobalt Turquoise Light and Permanent Rose, the tree line is a mixture of the two colors in masstone making a reddish purple. That mixture is diluted above and below the tree line where the cobalt separates out and granulates a little and the pure pink is pushed out in the medium to light values.
Three panel comic.
In first scene there is a person wearing dark mage robe, with big book, standing in front of a candle and pentagram. Text above their head: "In the past I desired secret arcane knowledge. I wanted to see hidden layers of reality, good and bad, even evil forces invisible for mortals. I wanted to gain strength and power to fight against them."
In second scene the same person, wearing purple shirt, nervously clicks on laptop on a desk. Text above: "Years later, when many aspects of life moved online, I started learning about online privacy and surveillance capitalism. I looked through the layers of this Matrix and things I saw terrified me. That cursed knowledge corrupted my mind forever."
In last scene person have ninja oufit and Anonymous mask. They have big key, carried like weapon and dark red shield with Ublock Origin logo. Around them there are eyes, dark hands, padlock, snake and Facebook logo. Between these are texts "tracking ID", "third party script", "advertisement", "Meta pixel" and "Disable your adblocker". At top part there is longer text: "Now I feel I have to constantly fight against shady evil forces most people don't know about. And I am afraid
I would fight for the rest of my life."
