You know, backups aren’t really THAT necessary. What could actually go wrong, honestly? Sure someone’s drive failed that one time but has it ever actually happened to you?

What are the odds of an ENTIRE DRIVE just not working all at once? Just order a new one if you think it seems flakey someday and then copy things if you want.

Probably no reason to keep most of this stuff anyway. How important could it be?

@NanoRaptor I still recall the Great NAS HD Crash of 2017, when I lost about 15-20% of my files in a nasty battery-corroded-PCB incident inside my network drive, with mirrored 2 drives.

The HDs themselves were fine, it's just that, given the dumb (hindsight 20-20) set up I had, without the original system the very encrypted filesystem just laughed at me.

Still managed to wrangle at least 80% of my files back, but yikes.

I wrote an app in Xcode that mimicked the dialog box for parents to type in their password to add more time. Next time I was on the computer I launched my app and told my mom that my time was up and asked if she could give me some more time, and then I had the admin password.
