@stux at some point, many moons ago,we moved to a spot in texas, where Uncle Sam sent us. rented a house sight unseen, because of the messy circumstances of the hurried transition. Acquaintances assured us the area was "ok", even a middle school across a small park...

The day we arrived to open the house for the first time and wait for truck with our stuff, not a block down the road, a SWAT truck screeched to a halt, then a few cars with purdy whirly lights.

He was mad because someone he likes spoke out about the current situation in the US and he said he doesn't want to hear about politics on Twitch

I said that I think that if a person gets popular enough, they have a certain responsibility to call out things that are wrong in this world

They don't have to "convert" their stream to that but don't stay silent

Staying silent and ignoring stuff is like a silent agreement

I don’t like mixing files or using everything buckets. I work out of the Documents folder. All PDFs are in a folder called PDFs. All images are in a folder called Images. I save everything to an external hard drive once a day.

Today I am stepping down from my role as the CEO of . Though this has been in the works for a while, I can't say I've fully processed how I feel about it. There is a bittersweet part to it, and I think I will miss it, but it also felt necessary. It feels like a goodbye, but it isn't—I intend to stay on and continue to advise the new leadership and contribute, because Mastodon—and the fediverse—is one of the very few beacons of hope for a better web.

During our morning walk, birds were scarce. I did manage to catch a sparrow of some sort, though I haven’t taken it off the camera yet. Yesterday, however, a turkey vulture—Cathartes aura—drifted overhead. I’ve captured many images of these birds over time. They’re plentiful around here, and in the air, they look magnificent—broad-winged, effortless, almost mythic in their glide.

One day, a commotion happened, and people gathered to find the owner shrieking, running after a flurry. A BIG eagle had just snagged the yapping tea cup. There were few tears. Eagles gotta eat...)

    Well friends, it finally happened. A VPN provider finally reached out to wag some money in my face to promote their service here. It seems a bit alarming that running a VPN service is apparently so profitable that providers are able to spend all this money on advertising (seems like half of podcasts have VPN sponsors and the other half are sponsored by square space)

    I still own guardllama.io so maybe I need to set up my own VPN service under that name 😂
