@djlink Yes. Besides the fact there were no cumulative updates. And the phone activation. And the lack of 64 bit drivers, but that's not MS fault of course.

@MrDavehathaway 7 years ago Hello, | was the lead programmer of the Toy Story PC version and | wanted to say a few things. First, thanks for the video, it brings back memories. Some good, some bad. Now, would like to address some of the overly harsh criticism people are posting. ‘The Mega Drive (Genesis) and also the SNES were written in the assembly language for their specific machines (as all console games were at the time). “This was written in C with a lot of x86 (PC) assembly language. The source code was not available to me, Travelers owned the code and Disney didn't want to pay $$$6 for using it as a reference. 1 literally had to sit and play the game over and over and ‘ry’ to mimic the behavior of the game. ‘Also, this had to run on a 486DX 33 MHZ processor. Earthworm Jim that was mentioned in a comment below required a minimum of a Pentium 133 with a 3D card (and was DOS based). In raw power, that's over 4 time faster. Please do some fact checking before you compare products that have completely different target specs! “The 3D effects were in at one point but had to be taken out because of the limited horsepower of the target CPU, too much slowdown. Everything had to be done in software, no nice hardware blitters or DMA chips for PCs! This had to run on both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, a double nightmare! | wish it had been DOS because it would have made things easier and it ‘would probably still run (with DOSBox). damn this is being a rough week in gamedev, the news yesterday about the 9100 layoffs at Microsoft are unfortunately just a part of the iceberg, they canceled publishing deals and funding. which means other studios (like Romero Games) are now affected and laying off their own staff :(

@djlink I really feel sad for the devs who got laid off, but I guess it‘s a self healing market. Production values are way too high for my taste. Every release can result in millions of wins or losses, because the stakes are so high.
Indie developers prove, that good games don’t need a budget of several hundred million dollars!

It's funny that you mention it! It was just yesterday that there was an intranet article in my company about the Australian branch that opened a new office. There were also some APAC execs to celebrate, a group photo with everyone involved and so on.
Made me feel super excited, that i work in the same company like people from the other side of the world (i'm german). I could text them any time directly via Teams and might get best friends with these people. Weird
