For 15 years, F-Droid has been the antidote to Google Play: no trackers, no ads, just open source apps. Now, Google wants to kill it.

Under the guise of "security", Google is forcing devs to register, pay, and surrender control. F-Droid can’t comply without betraying its principles. Thousands of apps could vanish overnight.

Fight back: demand sideloading rights, pressure regulators/Parliament, and defend one of the safe harbors for ethical tech.

@don_atoms @marcprux @fdroidorg It would help if you'd stop calling it "sideloading" and just used the normal term "installing".
Also, stop using Android. The only real option is moving away, use .

oleksii By realizing Appimages aren't portable at all and in fact a bit stupid, and then realizing you should've used Flatpak instead.
Honestly, they only work on systems that look like the system they were built on. And those systems do not run Musl libc...

The No Mouse Challenge is a global effort to raise awareness about accessible web design. Try using your website without a mouse. Use the keyboard instead. Is it possible to access all features and operate all buttons, sliders, and other controls?

@A11yAwareness What about regular applications (mobile and desktop)? That seems just as important, why are they omitted from this campaign?

We talk about Linux a lot, but Framework Laptop 13 also works great with
@FreeBSDFoundation The team there just published their most recent report with a writeup on how they are refining laptop support using Framework Laptops:

@CursedSilicon @frameworkcomputer Why would you need any particular collaboration? Every Linux distro already runs fine on their hardware, I'm running on mine with literally 0 issues, how is every distro not already a "first class citizen"?

bart ,
@bart@mastodon.fam-ribbers.com avatar

@CursedSilicon @frameworkcomputer That all sounds like something that would be good enough to have on the Gentoo wiki. I'm still not sure why Framework needs to do anything for that.

@piggz @kde 😱 A Kirigam-based Subsonic client! I literally installed Navidrome 2 weeks ago and although the web client is ok (bit ugly), I'd love a native client for my desktop. Having it work on my phone is an even bigger win!

New blog posts about my attendance to open source conferences in September. I've been a bit crazy and went to 5 of them 😅

erebion @zachdecook@librem.one avatar zachdecook Just installing an icon theme doesn't break anything. It'll only be used if it provides an icon that no other icon theme has, so maybe the missing one from Kasts.

Also make sure QtSvg is installed. For that would be qt6-qtsvg

bart ,
@bart@mastodon.fam-ribbers.com avatar

erebion Like I said, make sure Qt6Svg is installed.

    They don't ship Plasma Mobile, or any other mobile UI that is not Lomiri for that matter.
