I dunno what to tell you brey; it's all rigged, they're all nazis, the courts aren't gonna stop them and in fact I'm starting to think Roberts knows that Trump will eventually say "let them enforce it" and thus he's gonna do everything in his power to avoid not giving Trump what he wants so Der Leader doesn't blow up the judiciary; the state is not gonna save us from the state.

@AnarchoNinaWrites if I had to guess, I don't think that they will execute all that many people (more than usual, but not all that many in the scheme of things. )
The lowest friction option BY FAR, is to take the already horribly abusive systems of private prisons and prison labor and making them even more abusive, so that's what I suspect is the direction things will go. It is less work to set up, far more profitable, and will generate almost no meaningful opposition.

Not that that is a better future, of course.

Lol; y'all know I'm not out here getting paid and any donations I solicit go to my elderly mom whose going on under because my stepdad is dying and a bank wants the house she can't pay for now that neither of them work, but Patreon literally just took 60 bucks off $230 I been using to patch over the difference; some shit about folks signing up from an AP.

@AnarchoNinaWrites Yeah. From what I understand, Apple demanded it from Patreon, because it is an "app subscription", and Patreon decided to not fight them on it, from what I understand.

Even by the standards of greedy rent seeking middlemen it's especially egregious, since people who use the app generally have no idea that a third of their donations are being taken by Apple.

And how most never extend this thinking to food or housing. Baffling, really

I talked to an old friend last night, and was greatly heartened to hear that she's resumed wearing masks, because she doesn't want to get sick and infect her elderly parents.

I was even happier to hear her say that she only wears n95 masks, because she'd heard that surgical type masks don't protect very well!

@TomF Accent might be it. When Emma first came to the USA, some people had trouble understanding her. She's an accent chameleon, so that didn't last very long, but I do remember being baffled by it while it lasted

@TomF probably. When we moved a couple months back, a mover asked for tape to tape something closed. I handed him my tape gun and he said he had never used one. I assumed he was joking and said as much, but no, he'd really never used a tape gun before. I shrugged and handed him a roll of tape that wasn't on a the gun. Sometimes people do have really weird knowledge gaps

@Lorrrraaaaine yeah, both the Republicans and Democrats completely corrupt. The Democrats are a little less actively fascist, but Harris ran to the right of Reagan. it's why I left the US.

I don't know much about Korea, or most Asian nations, really, but I agree that the anti corruption department/ministry/bureau/whatever is probably not as good as it seems ( it let things get REALLY BAD before acting, after all), but it is nice that they at least have something like that

@eniko yeah, and sometimes I'll also read about one I wasn't aware of, like the screw worm elimination program ( google screw worms at your own risk, they're pretty horrific.)

I mean, the 20th century had plenty of bad things, especially for minorities, but there was a belief that the world could (and should) be better, and that part, I miss.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I have found feigning annoying levels of stupidity to be an especially effective way of managing cats.

For example, when my cat climbs on the dining room table, I shout "HUGS!" In an overly excited tone and run over and hug her repeatedly, until she's so annoyed that she gives up
