Ik weet wel dat ik toen ik mijn adres aanmaakte geen laurensachternaam kon gebruiken omdat dat adres al bestond. laurens.achternaam wilde wel. Maar ik heb mijn Gmailadres al wel meer dan 20 jaar.

Tuesday’s local elections in Denmark have the party Dansk Folkepari on the ballot. Their policies are:

— Jewish schools must be closed
— Kosher food must be made illegal
— Jewish headgear must be banned in public sector jobs
— Citizenships less than 20 years old will be reevaluated
— No new citizenships given
— Social benefits only for Danes

CORRECTION: In the above I replaced their use of Muslim terms with Jewish terms to prove a point: This is pure racism.

WARNING: Long post and NO point, but a very real example of what it's like to try to have a conversation with me...

To start, I have autism and ADHD (AuDHD) and I just had a conversation with a stranger that's a pretty typical conversation I have where I start talking about something I care a LOT about but then get ten words in and uncontrollably switch to a different topic and keep repeating that pattern until the other person manages to escape.

Here's a near transcription of my last conversation that started earlier this evening at a show for a band I like called The Beths where I was wearing a t-shirt for an adjacent band called ALVVAYS and saw another person wearing a different ALVVAYS shirt:

Me: I like your ALVVAYS shirt! Did you see The Beths open for ALVVAYS the last time they were in California?

Them: Yeah! I saw both at The Greek in Berkeley!

Me: Cool! I saw them both in Oakland!

Them: Neat! I went for ALVVAYS and The Beths opened and I really liked them!

Me: Me too! I've been listening to ALVVAYS for years, but didn't know about The Beths until they opened and I really liked them which is why I’m here now!

(This is where AuDHD Alice kicks in)

Me (continuing): I was JUST thinking about the chain of events that lead to me being here, so it was that ALVVAYS show where The Beths opened and I wouldn't have even known about ALVVAYS if my coworker hadn't introduced me to them about ten years ago.

The reason my coworker mentioned them is because I was wearing a Jawbreaker shirt so he realized we liked similar music and thought I might like ALVVAYS and he was totally right!

The reason I was wearing a Jawbreaker shirt is because we worked for a scrappy startup in the Bay Area where nobody cared about anything and you could wear whatever you wanted as long as you got your job done.

I got that job because I used to work for Yelp because my former Yelp coworker started working for that startup and referred me.

I got the job at Yelp because my mom had stage 4 cancer and was DYING so I moved from Chicago to Phoenix to take care of her and Yelp had a location in Arizona so I interviewed and I got that job.

I'm pretty sure I got the job because my resume used Avenir as the font and the hiring manager liked it.

We also talked about The Neverending Story which is one of my favorite movies and apparently one of his, so we bonded because I mentioned job interviews making me feel like Atreyu trying to run through those laser shooting sculptures and he said he totally got it and somehow I still got the job.

That job eventually lead me to the startup which brought me to the coworker who introduced me to ALVVAYS which introduced me to The Beths and that's why I’m here now.

How did you find out about The Beths?

Them: Oh. Uh. Just that ALVVAYS show where The Beths opened, as I previously mentioned.

Me: Oh okay good talk have a nice night.

@Alice That's what I do too when I'm "having the zoomies". Conversations often go off on tangents. I don't like it, to be honest. I forget what I was talking about at first so it gets awkward and then my autism kicks in, so I get really uncomfortable 😕

Trump's intimidation campaign against freedom of speech seems to have inspired a politician in Denmark.

After a political debate, the leader of the far right anti-immigration party Dansk Folkeparti, Morten Messerschmidt, is now suing the leader of The Social Liberal Party, Martin Lidegaard, to keep him from stating that Dansk Folkeparti wants to build internment camps for people of color.

Several legal experts have stated, the case has no merit, as similar historic cases have all been lost.

@randahl I know it can genuinely be a surname, but 'Morten Messerschmidt' sounds like the made-up character name for an online World War 2 shooter game.

'Look! I'm edgy! I name myself after a Nazi aircraft manufacturer!' cue racial slurs, HH, 88, etc.

(Said manufacturer was of course named Messerschmitt, with double t, but it's always spelled wrong.)

I've been following this "mutual safety standards recognition" stuff out of the US/EU talks. This could be really, really bad.

It would mean that US vehicles, like those giant dangerous SUVs and pickup trucks, could be freely imported into the EU in volume without having to pass EU vehicle safety standards (like pedestrian safety).

I haven't seen any organised resistance to this. Does anybody know any other organisations that are fighting this?

@martin_ueding @notjustbikes ...and when you need more capacity to transport stuff, you can rent a trailer the same size as the F150's truck bed. You need a tow hitch of course, but you don't need to haul around a bed permanently attached to your car.

Trump thinks Saint Petersburg is still called Leningrad after Lenin who died in 1924.

The city was renamed back to its original name Saint Petersburg in 1991, which Trump would know — if he was a real president and not just a hotel owner cosplaying as one.

@randahl Of course this happens without any involvement with Ukraine itself or even the EU.

Not coincidentally, the areas that Ukraine has to cede to Russia are full of natural resources like oil, gas and rare earth minerals. That's the real reason the Kremlin is after those areas.

(Interestingly, the same goes for Gaza.)

Priest Lisbeth Filtenborg of Lemvig decided to let ChatGPT write her entire sermon and have a tv station film her preaching.

Not a single soul in the congregation noticed that those were the words of an AI bot, and now her church has introduced an AI tool to help all priests autogenerate sermons.

But without a medical degree, Alex Jones feels qualified to discuss the imagined idea that Mr. Osbourne probably died of the COVID-19 vaccine.

@Alice My scar from a basal cell carcinoma removal looks similar. Fortunately it could be treated with skin shaving and a "chemo" cream which got the deeper part.
