Yeah buying shoes online is iffy. Especially heels bc they can really pinch you in all sorts of ways. Also for heels and sandals, the sizing is what it is - you can’t cheat with thinner or thicker socks.😅
In the case of open toe, open heel shoes, I agree with your coworker that there’s a chance they might fit. I’m a US 6 and have gotten away with 5.5 heels before, pretty much bc of the fact that there are no socks involved. My foot heel came right up to the edge of the shoe (I don’t love this look but oh well lol). If you really love the shoes and want to take the chance, I’d just buy the 10.5 and return it if it doesn’t fit.
Also if they hurt to wear, don’t bother. These heels were not made for you. It’s not worth it!! (Kinda sorta yelling at my younger self lol😆)

I think they tend to sweep mental illness under the rug because it’s seen as an embarrassment or weakness. It’s a lack of awareness from the older generation. And in my experience as a healthcare worker, I’ve noticed when Asian patients do come in for mental health reasons, they are on average very sick. As in, they seem to wait to meet a higher threshold before reaching out for help. By then it’s a full blown crisis.
I don’t really struggle with mental health myself. Well I think I have ADHD symptoms (like zoning out, foot-tapping, interrupting people) and am prone to forgetfulness and anxiety, but I can deal with it.
But yeah, my communication with my parents is shit lol. They weren’t very good at being supportive on a deeper level and so today, it is what it is. Let’s say I ended up needing to get professional help, honestly I’d continue to keep things to myself. We just don’t have that kind of relationship.

I see it all the time. Mostly from younger people. People who are my parents and grandparents age usually dgaf and don’t bother with a Western nickname.
I don’t have an Asian name myself bc my parents were advised against it when they were new immigrants. It was to avoid mispronunciations and potential bullying in school. Now that we’re talking about this, I wonder what my Asian name would be if I had one xD
