Does anyone have a recommendation for a great “beefsteak” tomato variety? Let’s say I wanna grow one variety this year. I have some Purple Cherokee seeds, which really underperformed last year and I also have some Pineapple Tomato seeds which I did poorly for one reason or another.
My #Hydroponic#Tomato is growing too big for the little container it has and I don't know what to do with it.
I wasn't planning to have any plants growing this season, but this little guy grew from the seeds of an old tomato, I took it out of the soil and put it in vermiculite and clay balls.
It has been growing ever since and now it's time to find a new container for it.
Since it's #tomato season, I decided to try the simple, humble "macaroni & tomatoes" dish, but used #gemelli pasta instead. It came out delightfully delicious!
I used canned #sanmarzanotomatoes mixed with fresh garden grown tomatoes. Plus lots of #butter. 😋😋Proud of how this turned out! Topped with fresh grated parmesan & paired with a chilled glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, I think I did #MeatlessMonday well! 👌👌 #cooking#whatsfordinner#onepotrecipe

Garden update: cute baby butternut! And the tomatoes keep growing like mad.
The radishes and spring onions we planted in late May have almost entirely succumbed to the heat wave though - it's too much for the wee seedlings (and for me too really) 😢
Time to thin the lettuce. Then I'll plant tomatillos on top of it. I haven't been able to get a decent tomato harvest in about ten years. I think it's just too hot and dry. Hopefully tomatillos will be happier with the heat. #gardening

You can plant the stem of a #tomato horizontal as described in my old book of organic gardening from the 80ths. Every hair on the stem will become a root and make the plant healthier.
