Jemioła jako półpasożyt potrzebuje do swojej egzystencji soli mineralnych i wody jakie czerpie z drzew, na których zacznie bytować.
Gdyby widoczne na zdjęciu odchody trafiły w spękaną korę żywego drzewa, a nie na ziemię - jemioła zdobyłaby nowe miejsce do życia.
