Stepping into a cool blue with Daniel Smith Phthalo Turquoise for this Atmospheric Landscape Painting. Also used DS Mayan Dark Blue Genuine for grounding.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Phthalo Turquoise and Mayan Dark Blue Genuine. The masstone of these pigments are both very dark and they make up the terrain of the landmass with only a few diluted areas; it is contrasted against the white of the paper. The pigments are then diluted above the horizon line bringing out the vibrant turquoise and the gray blue. Grasses of various length reach from the landmass.
Trying out this Square Coldpress Paper Journal from Arrtx. I knew I wanted to test out Daniel Smith Hematite Genuine on this textured paper. I added DS Burnt Umber to warn it up.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in a square sketchbook using Daniel Smith Hematite Genuine and Burnt Umber. The terrain is rough but also has the appearance of snow on the ground with rocks and grasses sticking out. As the two colors are diluted upwards, burnt umber warms up the atmosphere while the Hematite Genuine gives it a gritty texture. Tall grasses reachup on the sides and get shorter towards the center.

This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Rose of Ultramarine. The landmass takes up the bottom fourth and carved out by the dark red purple of the masstone of Rose of Ultramarine which is diluted out and splits into hazy pink and blue at the bottom. When it's diluted above the horizon line the red purple value lightens and then splits into pink and blue in some vertical brush strokes. Grasses throughout give texture.
This is a horizontal atmospheric watercolor landscape painting in landscape orientation in an A5 sketchbook using the colors DS Phthalo Blue GS and Indigo. There is a thin white (broken in spots) in the center creating a horizon line. The vibrant blue moves and bleeds unpredictably and is diluted to a much lighter color towards the very top and bottom. Along the horizon line both above and below the horizon line is dark blue that bleeds a little making a shadow or tree line.
Good morning! Dancing With The Fireflies is about those quiet moments when the world slows down and you remember who you are. It lives in the space between dusk and starlight - soft, grounded, and a little bit magical. ✨ Thanks for listening. 😊 https://open.spotify.com/album/6tj8zAh2MYBiNtoS55P2ed?si=RD9yeyBaQ9mbShwVuIjCdQ
Silhouetted woman dancing in a moonlit field filled with glowing fireflies under a starry night sky. A full moon shines above dark trees, creating a dreamy, peaceful nighttime scene with soft golden light. Text in the image says "Dancing With The Fireflies" "Out Now".
I wanted to use French Ultramarine for another wintery Atmospheric Landscape Painting. It's complemented by Quinacridone Magenta. I used a little salt to get a frosty effect.
This is a Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Winsor and Newton French Ultramarine and Quinacridone Magenta. This snowy feel of this watercolor is strong in the foreground that has a good bit of white water paper a midst the masstone smears of blue and purple and a few patches of light values too. A white path starts at the horizon line and slices to the left. Above the horizon line is strong French Ultramarine with pops of magenta. These colors are pulled upward into faint evergreen shapes, with more distinct evergreen shapes in French Ultramarine.

This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Winsor and Newton Indigo, Phthalo Blue(GS), and Quinacridone Magenta. This wintery painting is mostly dark at the bottom in the landmass with bits of white with a little path. Then the colors dilute upwards in vibrant blue and purple and hints of evergreen trees. Finally the dilute further to create the atmosphere in light value and a little salt for a snowy effect.
watercolour; medium slate background with clouds of brown and grey, a dark crevice; a wave of blue cascades from the top left; glowing spheres form a cluster at the top right; liquid flows in a curve downwards; light bubbles hover in the top right corner.
This is a horizontal atmospheric watercolor landscape painting in landscape orientation in an A5 sketchbook. Using only horizontal brushstrokes this Atmospheric Landscape Painting is done with French Ultramarine and a hint of Neutral Tint at the horizon line. There is a strip of white at the horizon that is interrupted by a color bleed towards the left side. The colors bleed and granulate and are stronger below the horizon line and much more diluted above the horizon line.
Inspired by artist Annamabella, this minimalist Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape painting is done with all horizontal brushstrokes. It's calming to paint simply!
This is a minimalist horizontal atmospheric watercolor landscape painting in landscape orientation using one color sodalite genuine. There is a distinct white line at the horizon line. The masstone is diluted out above and below the white gap.
This one is based on the #sketch I made of the tree on a cliff.
I felt like I wanted to try something different, to make it a harmonious, soft and light looking piece, with different colours than the natural ones I use most of the time.
Also I used #Canson mi-teintes paper instead of the course #U-art 500 that I use often, to amplify the soft and #atmospheric feel.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Schmincke Tundra Violet. The dark masstone makes up the terrain with a little dilution and granulation and peaks of white paper. Above the horizon line, Tundra Violet is diluted creating bursts of warm granulating blue and a halo of warm pale brown. Thin leafless trees stretch up from the horizon line. The overall feeling is that of a frosty fall morning.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting from last fall that I painted after taking Let's Make Art's Atmospheric Landscape Painting course. I used DS Quinacridone Burnt Orange and Hematite Genuine and a little salt!
This is an Atmospheric Landscape Painting in portrait orientation on Arches Coldpress watercolor paper using Daniel Smith Quinacridone Burnt Orange and Hematite Genuine. Orange explodes on the left side almost beyond the landmass which has muted smatterings of orange along with various values of Hematite Genuine. Dark evergreen trees are in the foreground and along the ridge of the bluff. The atmosphere is, again, bursting in orange (with salt for texture) on the left. The center is a luminous pale orange with granulation from Hematite Genuine reaching up at the horizon line and more concentrated on the right side.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Rose of Ultramarine, Undersea Green, Payne's Gray, Iridescent Goldstone, and Hansa Yellow Deep. Blue dominates the sides and top, Rose of Ultramarine is dominate in the center, green comes in pops and the yellow and gold are splattered towards the middle to create fireflies. There are dark everywhere trees on the sides for dark contrast and some detail.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Moonglow and Prussian Blue. Getting inspiration from the inktober prompt "arctic," the rocky snowy terrain is divided by a snowy path. The colors are diluted above the horizon line in triangular shapes in cool blue and gray purple. The atmosphere is cool with diluted blues and granulating purple.
It's feeling more fall like! Drawing inspiration from Daniel Smith's Autumn Triad, I used Rose of Ultramarine, Quinacridone Deep Gold, and Undersea Green to create this warm fall atmospheric landscape!
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Rose of Ultramarine, Undersea Green, and Quinacridone Deep Gold. There are dark hues along and below the horizon line with a little path of gold at center left. On either side of the path are slightly diluted Rose of Ultramarine and Undersea green. At the horizon line there are some dark bleeds upward but mostly gold, rose, and brown. There are trees with gold and rose leaves and the atmosphere is a pale golden and feels very sunlit.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Black Tourmaline Genuine and Dark Mayan Blue. Inspiring by the prompt "ragged," the top and bottom are streaky and ragged. The landmass are dark and angled down towards the white center. The atmosphere is built up with layers of dark medium values at the horizon line and up the sides. The center and top is a light value. Leafless trees reaching into the atmosphere from the horizon line.
This is another Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape inspired by the inktober prompt "murky," but it's more dark and misty especially with the the addition of DS Dark Mayan Blue.
This is a Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Dark Mayan Blue, Shadow, Violet, and Lunar Violet. This piece is very dark in the bottom third with white streaks and pops suggesting a path down the center and rugged terrain. At the horizon line are bursts of dark pigments hinting at fir trees in the back background that fade into a gritty light blue gray atmosphere. Thin leafless trees extend up from the horizon line to the top of the artwork.
In the form of a tornado and 2 misty mountain landscapes.
A bit of a change, I only posted my digital drawings, I'm going to start showing my analog creations. Here are 3 drawings from 2014/2016. Size, A4, it's Indian ink on acetate (a transparent sheet)
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Moonglow and Black Tourmaline Genuine. This composition is inspired by the prompt "sweep." I used a sweeping affect from top left around to the bottom left, in a backward C. At the bottom of the curve is masstone of both colors. The bottom is very dark with thin strip of white watercolor paper. The colors are pushed up towards the curve and granulate. Black Tourmaline Genuine granulates into a gray with some grittiness. Moonglow is a muted purple and it granulates into diluted blue and pink. From the bottom curve are a few trees both evergreen and leafless deciduous; taller on the right and shorter going to the left. The the top sweep has a purple hue to it while the bottom is mostly black and gray.
Using an inktober prompt murky, this Atmospheric Landscape Watercolor is painted with Daniel Smith Lunar Violet and Shadow Violet. While murky was the inspiration, it feels more forboding.
This is an Atmospheric Watercolor Landscape Painting in portrait orientation in an A5 sketchbook using Daniel Smith Lunar Violet and Shadow Violet. This piece is quite dark on the bottom half with a few areas of water white watercolor paper showing through. A lot of pigment is pushed into the atmosphere making for an eerie feel. The are a few ghostly thin leafless trees reaching nearly to the top of this artwork.
