My take on left NIMBYism is that is more concern with displacement than affordability. That it's more important to prevent loss than it is to improve affordability.
Like anti-housing positions, it is something where the negatives are concentrated and the benefits diffuse.

I have some experience with self-hosting and using podman (in place of docker) and have lots of storage space and compute locally
I'm reading the install docs but the docker side of them seems very much a work in progress.
