Love the message here, but am I the only one stuck on how short the lady's statue's legs look? It's weirding me out. Can see where her coat ends on the photo, and then on the Statue, and I can't ignore it haha.

I've had this puzzle on my phone for years. Every few months I'd glance at it and try and solve it. Last night, as I was eating dinner, I finally figured out the answer!

    Does anyone have a good suggestion for a markdown note organiser?

    My main requirement is that I am using Syncthing to sync my notes from my Android phone, which uses Quillpad. Quillpad is amazing and looks super nice, and functional too, but all the notes are in one big folder rather than being subdivided by notebook. So I require a markdown editor that can create "notebooks" but don't change ...

    Others have said, but I'm a big fan of obsidian. I use syncthing to keep my vaults current across my phone and computers.

    It looks good, has a plugin for just about anything you'd need, and works really well on every system I've tried. Ios, macos, Linux, windows, and android.

    That's why I liked password store, no servers, just my encrypted password files on my own computer, that I sync over to my other devices.

    Apparently it's dying soon through, so I need an alternative.

    This is about to go belly up IIRC. openPGP is infighting, splitting into two projects, password-store hasn't been updated in a decade. It'll lose compatibility.

    But currently all my passwords are in password store. Looking into alternatives. I like the idea of keepass because it's still local. But I also pay for proton, so might use theirs. They weren't susceptible in the recent attacks

    People with the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap: What do you mean by "Cilantro tastes like soap"? In what way does anything taste like soap?

    I've been wondering for a while now if I might have that gene or whether Cilantro is just a herb i dislike. I can stomach dishes with cilantro in them, but it just stings through everything.     Keep in mind, just because it doesn't taste like soap to you, doesn't mean you should like it. People have their own unique tastes. I, for instance, don't like most fish, and think that describing a thing as what it is - means it's bad - is a weird thing: "this fish is fishy" = gross. "This chicken is chickeny" = delicious.

    All that said, you just don't like cilantro, that's fine. My wife doesn't like strawberries. I can't understand it, but I accept it.

    Additionally, as I understand it, it was still in active investigation in 2024. Also, he can't just "release the files", it required an act of Congress to be released.

    Do I think he should have tried? Yes, but I'd be 0% surprised if he's all over them too.

    Just saw the aipac warchest is like $80m for the midterms.... But if they pass this new law about requiring passport and/or birth certificate to vote, we're gonna be hosed. Only half of Americans have a passport, and many millions don't have access to their identifying records.

    I believe that's not necessarily the case with active investigation documents, that could easily muddy the legal process of an active case.

    This is a fairly big assumption. I'm not sure I agree or disagree with who you're replying to, but most kids these days are growing up with atrophied executive function and problem solving due to lack of actual parenting, social media, and this idea that the answer to the question is worth more than how it was arrived at. I have seen teachers talk about how 2 of their 115 students are reading at grade level, the rest are far behind.

    I say all this because I was born into a cult, and believed anything anyone I "should listen to" told me. I have yet to find a non-technical person who doesn't like "AI", and think it's the coolest thing since the Internet. It's not a far leap for someone to go where this dude did.

    I'm american, and grew up driving stick. Left hand steering, right hand (dominant) shifting. I was lucky enough to visit Ireland a couple years back and rented a car. Was awkward at first but got the hang of it fairly quickly. Obviously it's right hand on wheel while shifting, I think I left handed it during consistent speeds though. Not sure if this helps at all 🤷

    It's not the same though to be fair. Elon's citizenship is invalid. Based on an overstayed, and misused student visa. Citizenship can be, and often is revoked if found later that they abused, misused, or falsified their information during the immigration process. He came in on a student visa, and then worked instead.

    I just switched to bazzite a couple months ago after switching away from kubuntu. I love it, don't expect I'll ever go back, and I'm not interested in trying any others. It's kind of a pain if you want to do things outside of gaming, due to the immutability of the os, but anything is still possible.

    One thing I haven't figured out yet is theming grub, nothing I've tried has stuck.

    I used Nova for as long as it's been a thing. Paid for pro. Abandoned it immediately after they released the news a few weeks ago about the tracking and ads.

    I switched to Octopi Launcher. It's really good, and in active development. Author listens to his users and is always adding fun new features.
