The final article draws the thread together, exposing a deliberate, interconnected system across continents, legal systems, and institutions.

This series is meant to support civil society organisations, trade unions, workers, activists, academics, small businesses, and journalists fighting back.

Isn't Tusk the one who often warns Polish citizens about Russian disinformation aimed at Poland? 🧐

Which EU country will be the first to officially move its public institutions to a national Mastodon instance, bringing political debate to the Fediverse and away from disinformation platforms like X?

We know some national-level instances already exist (e.g. in Germany). The question is: who will make it a political decision, not just a technical one?

If you think of another country, add it in the comments 👇

This analogy will become our motto: big tech social media is the new tobacco.

We’re taking far too long to realize it’s a cancer for democracies.

He has real friends: politicians who endorse his actions by using his tool of disinformation and hate speech. Ironically, it is a tool that tries to undermine democracies:

'Musk ignored security team X warnings about pornographic AI use.'

Elon Musk has been warned several times by X's security team that the platform's AI tools would allow users to create sexual images of children or celebrities, The Washington Post reports. The CEO ignored those warnings.

For those ~500 new followers in the last week, here is our main reasoning why the argument that you have to stay on social networks to provide opposition is complete nonsense

https://leavex.eu/posts/why-stay-on-social-media-makes-no-sense/

If you agree, please share. This is mainly for those of you who still have or know of representatives on X, whatever their reason may be.

Only 17% of Austrian MPs are still on X.
Compare that to Sweden, 66%, the Netherlands, 63%, and the EU, 58%, that gap is striking.

Finland is often cited as a leader in digital literacy and counter-disinformation. It makes me curious how Finnish politicians assess X today, as a neutral platform, or as an active disinformation risk.

Which European country will be the first to seriously lead by example and walk away from this disinformation machine?

Grassroots political groups, parties, and democratic institutions across Europe are already active on the Fediverse.

So why are so many elected representatives still giving attention and legitimacy to the disinformation platform X, whose goal is to undermine democracies?

Official Mastodon servers exist.
Pixelfed exists.

A healthier public debate is right there.
Where are their communication teams, and why are they ignoring this public space?

We’ve redefined how the statistics are calculated. From now on, only politicians with an X account are counted. We’ve also updated the wording from “inactive” to “exited”.

If a MEP has an X account and hasn’t publicly stated that they left, they are considered active. Only MEPs who delete their account or explicitly announce they are leaving X are counted as out of X.

There are still 418 MEPs (58%) to go

We now have a new homepage! It took some time to create the custom layout (thanks to aivuk on GitHub!), but the result is minimalist.

A few minor adjustments are still necessary, but we're ready to add new countries!

See the replies for details on how to contribute.

Dear Fedi friends, I need your help!

We are working on motion graphics for the Fediverse promotional video... and we would love to do a sequence at the end with a mosaic of people's profile photos. For that, I need your consent.

If you'd like to have a small cameo in our video, can you let us know if we can use your profile pic?

Thanks! 🙏

Can you please boost this?

As democracies become digital, the EU Digital Services Act helps keep elections free and fair.

We've presented a toolkit to support national regulators in safeguarding the electoral process integrity in the EU.

It will help mitigate risks on very large online platforms and search engines like:
🔸 Hate speech
🔸 Online harassment
🔸 Public opinion manipulation
🔸 AI-generated content, impersonation

We stay committed to protecting fundamental rights in the digital space.
