Don't use expensive equipment and complex blocking unless absolutely necessary.

Like Devil Doll, which was put in the can for only $60,000-$75,000. That's lower than classic B sci-fi movies. Director Lindsay Shonteff shot in mostly close-ups, cheaper in that they avoided complex lighting of an entire set.
