I keep having this conversation with straight white men that they are somehow perplexed by:

man: in order to beat Trump we’re going to have to concede a bit on your rights

Me: if you concede on my rights why the fuck do I care if you win? If I lose my rights no matter what, why does it matter to me that you beat Trump?

Man: stunned confusion

@paco@infosec.exchange avatar

@JessTheUnstill I don’t understand why white men are afraid to be a minority. Does this country treat minorities badly? I’m pretty sure the white guts said we don’t.

    Omg the fake beard is literally falling off WHY IS IT THERE

    paco ,
    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar

    @starkraving666 Yes! You missed this plot point, too! Now I don't feel so bad for missing it.

    The whole idea was that a year earlier he was in Germany with no beard and that's when his assistant somehow tragically died and had his soul stuck in the dummy.

    The reason no one in London recognizes him, is because of his crafty disguise!

    But I had to have that explained to me tonight. So I am glad to have some company in the head-scratching club.

    paco ,
    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar

    @diazona Yes. Needlessly complicated. But if you look at his face in the beardless flashback, he has signs of cystic acne or some other skin condition. It's entirely possible the actor couldn't grow a decent beard. If you're more set on the actors than the plot (and who wouldn't be?), this is an easy adjustment.

    That's entirely too much thinking for this film.

    🅱️ and thanks @cherizilla for the Bingo card! My favorite: "Sneak attack"

    🎞️ and more thanks to @paco for data analysis and @combatwombat for the replays.

    🦖And to all the members of the Real Time Film Analysis Squad: You put the devil in Devil Doll! (Someone had to) I'm recovering from a mild concussion and saved up all my screentime today FOR THIS. And it was WORTH IT!!

    What is this man drinking in a British pub? It's too big to be vodka and to small to be ale.

    The line was:
    "I see. Of course. I understand." Who the fuck writes dialog like that?

    @Sadsquatch I see. Of course. I understand.

    "I'm sorry, but that's not against the law."

    paco OP ,
    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar

    @gblues And the doll wasn't born in the UK. It's an immigrant. We'll get it one way or another.

    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar paco , to random

    I've explained everything to you. But since you won't listen to me, I've invited a man to say it is true.

    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar paco , to random

    Lemme see if I understand this right. The Great Vorelli murdered a man live on stage, in front of a packed house. And then he just wandered over to London and kept performing.

    paco OP ,
    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar

    @davesdogmaggie Oh shit. There's only like four plot points in the whole damn film, and I MISSED one!

    I will say this, for this otherwise corny movie, that little background wub wub sound when they want to be spooky is pretty effective.

    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar paco , to random

    I don't see why anyone would applaud any of this, much less be "sold out."

    I, the Great Vorelli, just caused a man to nearly shit his pants in terror on stage. Now, who'd like to be the next volunteer to come up here on stage?

    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar paco , to random

    Although this movie was probably shot at 24fps, it has lots of scenes where literally nothing moves. If you factored that in, I wonder how many frames per second it is really.

    @paco@infosec.exchange avatar paco , to random

    For a movie set in checks notes London, there are surprisingly few English accents.
