    , 13 Aug 2014, Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani won the Fields Medal for her work on complex geometry. She was the first woman to win it since it began in 1936.

    She died in 2017, aged just 40. Multiple awards and initiatives are named after her.

    Even before Friday, Trump has already handed Putin several victories:

    1. Trump helps Putin out of the paria role and back on the world stage, which will boost his popularity at home.

    2. Trump helps Putin defy his ICC arrest warrant and show that he can travel and the ICC is powerless.

    3. Trump helps Putin create an image of Ukraine not being a real country with a seat at the table, but a piece of land to be traded by the powerful.

    4. The US is again portrayed as naive and inferior to Russia.
