Ugh, everything is falling apart and now apparently we don't tie our shoelaces correctly? Here's a story from @ about the Berlutti knot and Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot, which are apparently far less likely to come undone than conventional ones.
I am looking for winter shoes. Ideally, they should be made:
In Europe.
Without harming animals.
Not at the expense of the planet.
I'm doing my research, but I'm having a problem finding what I'm looking for. We have shoes made in Poland and Europe, but all the options I see are leather. I've been putting off buying new shoes for a very long time, and I don't want them to fall apart after two months, as was usually the case with my previous purchases. #ekologia#weganizm#buty#zapytajfedi#europa#askfedi#askfediverse#shoes#veganism#europe#ecology
Bloomberg: US Returns Radiation-Contaminated Footwear to Indonesia
"...Authorities in Jakarta said Wednesday that two containers of footwear suspected of being contaminated with radioactive cesium-137 were recently returned by the US. Indonesia’s national research agency will carry out tests on the shoes, Bara Krishna Hasibuan, an official with the government task force investigating the radiation findings, told reporters...."
Painting: two black shoes, unlaced on a plain white background & painted from the perspective of the viewer looking down on them as if kneeling a few feet away.... the shoes are slightly scuffed but presentable.
Hi I’m Ginny, and a new server means new #introduction post! :boosts_okgay:
If you like quirky, confused girl memes and posts about the inscrutable behavior of cis folks ~ you should probably follow me! I also post about all the stereotypical girl stuff: videogames, transgender life, programming, reading, writing, being actually autistic, and shoes.
(Honestly i mostly post thoughts that get stuck in my head or one-liners that i think are clever)
I'm a transfem single parent in my 40s, working as a software engineer-ish type person based in the Seattle area.
My nerd sublasses are technology and programming, video games, puns and wordplay, and collecting banger domain names.
I discovered I was transgender a few years ago (2022-12-22), literally minutes after signing up for a Mastodon account on tech.lgbt.
I’ve made a lot of friends on fedi and want to keep making more! My contact stuff is on my website fr.wtf and I go by "gintoxicating" most places :). I’m kinda shy and don’t always know what to say but I continue to try. yes I'm excessively proud of that domain :sylveon_happy:
I imported my entire fediverse history so here are some posts I'm kinda proud of!
It had just hit mealtime when I reached this point in the morning. I slipped on my shoes, let Charlie out back, and headed into the garage to fetch a pail of water—wait, hold up. That sounds suspiciously like a nursery rhyme. Something about Jack… was it Jack be nimble? 🤔 No, that’s not it. 🪣 Ah, got it—Jack and Jill went up the hill, and so on and so forth.
Okay, the train’s officially off the rails. Where was I again? 🙄 Right—the garage. I went out to grab a can of dog food. That little errand requires footwear because we live on a gravel road, and the tires drag that dusty mess into the garage like it’s trying to colonize the concrete.
Which brings us back to the shoes. I keep a pair of Skeeter’s Step-ins handy, and 99 times out of 100, those are my go-to—even when I venture out among the English. No laces for me. The slip-on style feeds my laziness beautifully. They even sport mock laces, designed to trick passersby into thinking I took the time to properly lace up. I mean, does anybody actually do that anymore?
That’s all for this morning—I’ve got places to be. The rest of today’s meanderings will have to wait until tomorrow’s dispatch.

"A cluster of crepe myrtle flowers bursts into view, their crinkled red petals unfurling like silk caught in a breeze. The blossoms are vivid and textured, each petal resembling a delicate scrap of flame or a curled ribbon of velvet. Nestled among them are glossy seed pods, deep maroon and bulbous, like polished beads or miniature lanterns—each one a vessel of future bloom.
The flowers are tightly packed, their forms overlapping in a choreography of color and curve. The red is not uniform—it pulses with subtle variations, from cherry to crimson, as if the petals were painted by light itself. The seed pods glisten with a lacquered sheen, their surfaces smooth and reflective, offering contrast to the soft, wrinkled texture of the petals.
Behind this floral constellation, the background is a deep green, blurred and shadowed, like a forest curtain drawn back to spotlight the bloom. The darkness makes the red blaze brighter, as if the flowers were lit from within. The composition feels intimate, reverent—an invitation to witness the crepe myrtle not just as a plant, but as a sovereign emissary of summer’s final flourish.
Chicken Blue Tennies / Bird Art by Lisa S Baker. A whimsical scene features a chicken standing in a pair of blue sneakers. The chicken's expression is curious and lively.

Winter (June) in Brazil with a drop in temperature, so I am changing light shoes for boots and thick socks to face the cold, especially first thing in the morning.

These desert boots are from a German brand producing #eco shoes: #EKN. The leather is nice and thick and the soles are comfy. You can even order replacement soles on their website!
I think they're quite stylish and they fit nicely with many of my outfits.
This is a canvas of a pretty vintage style pink boot filled with peony flowers with vintage sheet music in the background with a butterfly and vintage bird.
