Zoomed-in photo of a man wearing rainbow coloured sneakers and rainbow coloured socks with an outline of the Eiffel Tower on them. The man is standing in a grassy field alongside other people and a black-and-white dog.
They may not have the best reputation as a suburbs but Broadmeadows & Jacana are underrated for creature observing in #melbourne suburbia. Even saw a Latham's Snipe which is on the threatened species list
Just a typical #melbourne Copenhagen style bike lane experience.
Shame I didn't have red lippy to write "You can't park there mate" on their windscreen.
A red corolla parked on the bike side of a green painted Copenhagen style bike lane. Cars are correctly parked on the right side of a small traffic island separating the bike lane from the remainder of the road.

Urgent Appeal: Help Anna #Escape#Abuse – Time is Running Out!
🚨EMERGENCY: Anna's Life Hangs in the Balance – Act NOW to Rescue Her from #Abuse and #Neglect!
Anna, an Australian woman battling severe #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis (#ME) for over 20 years, is trapped in a toxic home with abusive family members. Bedbound and forced to stay in a dark room, she is vulnerable and that vulnerability is taken advantage of. She is not allowed access to #disability aids or workers and needs approval for all mailed items including food, which may be binned or sold regardless. There are no steady rules, just excuses for her abuse. She faces deliberate exposure to sensory overload, days without food, constant yelling, stolen belongings, and three #COVID infections in 15 months due to unmasked family members. She now has #LongCovid as well. Compounded by #endometriosis, #hypothyroidism, #POTS, #chronicpain, and more - her health is deteriorating rapidly.
** Her doctor fears that staying in this environment will kill her.**
#Australia's #healthcare, #disability, and #domesticviolence systems have failed her catastrophically,. This systemic neglect has created a life-threatening crisis – and for Anna, it's already too late to wait.
Anna's Critical Needs – Your Support Can Save Her:
Safe Housing ASAP: Anna desperately needs a quiet room in a COVID-conscious (masking) home in #Melbourne. She can pay rent $250 per week, with funded meals and limited care hours; long-term help may qualify for Carer's Allowance. She has indicated she may need incidental help.
Secure Relocation: Specialized transport to reduce infection risks and suit her ME. Funds needed for moving costs and aids until #NDIS access.
Expert Advocacy: A #DisabilityAdvocate for complex cases to navigate the system with her. Even a friend just willing to help. She can’t do this alone.
Communication Aid (#Australia, preferably #Victoria): Someone to handle phone tasks – all documents provided. Brain injury has made phone use impossible.
-This is a Shameful Failure – But You Can Help In a resource-rich nation, no one should rot in abuse while services ignore them. Don't let Anna become a statistic.
This is the #melbourne car driver who thought forcing me off the road was a good idea while I was out #cycling. I'm glad I always have camera footage when I'm out on the road.
My thoughts are with everyone battling or affected by the bushfires and power outages on this 43°C day. I’m very thankful my air conditioning is still working and I’m relatively comfortable. If you’re the praying type, please pray for my daughter’s safe return from Sydney tomorrow. The fires are still active, and she may need to find an alternative route home to Melbourne.
Nothing says thoughtful buying like a shirt from a multinational with ethical failings manufactured in a country with worker welfare issues that happens to have an Indigenous place name slapped on it
I was confused as to why Melbourne Central didn’t have Christmas decorations earlier into December. Turns out they were working on their greatest absurdity yet in a centre full of absurd design choices. It is difficult to capture everything going on in there in one shot
At St Paul's Cathedral Melbourne for the installation of The Right Revd Dr Ric Thorpe as Archbishop of Melbourne. This marks a significant moment for Anglicans across Victoria as we welcome our new Archbishop and on Advent Sunday. The installation of an Archbishop is a act of apostolic succession, connecting our local church to the ancient tradition of bishops shepherding God's people. As Archbishop Thorpe takes on this responsibility,I pray for wisdom and grace in his leadership of our diocese and province. Today I witness continuity and renewal in the life of the Church.
Was idly wandering in the city, and waiting to cross the street, when a slightly older Chinese lady stopped next to me, talking to someone on the phone. Suddenly she handed me the phone and asked “please.” A voice said something about “108 Little Bourke St.” “ok, I can take her there” - it wasn’t far.
We walked, and she said “thank you.” “没关系,” I replied, and she said something along the lines of “oh, you can speak Chinese?” “一点.” A torrent of words followed, which I couldn’t keep up with, but I put on a brave face. Anyway, we made it to what turned out to be a tour bus, waiting for her.
Glorious. Would do again. It’s nice to feel like I’m approachable - must have been the grey hair?
Came across this striking art piece in Bourke St Mall, #melbourne called Paid Attention by Huei Yin Wong. It’s designed to comment on the way the advertising industry profits from constantly taking our attention at no benefit to us. If you sit making unbroken eye contact with the messages about our attention choices on the screen, it pays out the equivalent of minimum wage for the time watched. Sitting there conspicuously staring at something silly in public for even less than 2 minutes was weirdly unsettling even though we’re constantly looking at silly stuff on screens
A receipt that says paid attention city of Melbourne test sites. Time sold 1 min 16 seconds. Your earnings $0.53 thank you for paying attention we will see you again. A claim QR code is obscured
Anyone in #Melbourne interested in 3 Franz Ferdinand tickets for Friday 28th at the Botanical Gardens?
General admission, bought on impulse because a friend was visiting from out of town, turns out our friend can't make it and we have school stuff on anyway, if you're interested make an offer.
