Aids, Tuberkulose und Malaria gelten als die drei tödlichsten Infektionskrankheiten. Insbesondere in armen Staaten sterben Menschen daran. Für einen bessere Bekämpfung stellt Deutschland nun eine Milliarde Euro zur Verfügung.

Bis zu 300 Millionen Menschen stecken sich jährlich weltweit mit Malaria an - etwa 650.000 sterben - die meisten von ihnen Kinder. Dabei gibt es Behandlungsmöglichkeiten, sagt der Tübinger Infektiologe Peter Kremsner.
