NVIDIA Parabricks GPU-accelerated FQ2BAM is now available in Galaxy! We benchmarked its runtime against BWA-MEM2 and BWA across five runs and find that mapping and QC metrics remain essentially identical to CPU-based alignment—while delivering a major speedup for Galaxy workflows. https://galaxyproject.org/news/2025-12-15-fq2bam/
Freiburg Galaxy team recently joined experts in Göttingen for the 1st Open Architecture Workshop to help shape the future technical foundations of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). The team presented their cloud-oriented architecture and shared critical insights from the PLANT DataHUB regarding scalable storage and the "Software as a Service" approach. This Wednesday,
@SchnDa from
@galaxyfreiburg will give an intro on how
@galaxyproject helps analyzing media, text or digital data in your research w/o programming or expensive programs.
She'll bring use cases from the Humanities and Social Sciences (while usegalaxy.eu itself is supposed to be domain agnostic).
Join the newly formed Tool Developers Special Interest Group (SIG) to collaborate on high-quality tool maintenance and standardize best practices across the Galaxy ecosystem. This initiative offers a dedicated space for mentorship, peer review, and community-driven development for developers of all experience levels. https://galaxyproject.org/news/2025-11-20-tools-sig/
🚀 Galaxy is workflows! Check out the Intergalactic Workflow Commission (IWC) - a curated library of Galaxy workflows that makes data analysis accessible to everyone. Community curated, ready to use!
📣 Introduction to Galaxy, the Open-Source Platform for FAIR Data Analysis (in German)
Are you new to e-science? Do you want to learn ways to analyse your material with digital tools from your browser without any programming skills? Do you want to get an idea of research data management? Register for our introductory online workshop at the HeFDI Data School to find out more!
Please note, that this course will be held in German!

At the EOSC Symposium 2025, a standout example was the BERD@NFDI B-Plan use case, a project demonstrating how the Galaxy Europe platform provides the analytical engine to transform complex, unstructured planning data into FAIR research assets for the entire European research community. https://galaxyproject.org/news/2025-11-21-eosc-symposium-berd/
As colleagues from CCAMLR / Antarctica conservation from Belgium are coming to Concarneau marine station to work on Galaxy Ecology use in their projects, we propose to create an open event, where colleagues from CCAMLR / Antarctica conservation from UK, New Zealand and others are interested to participate remotely, so people wanted to learn how to use and contribute to Galaxy Ecology European Platform during these 3 days.
📣 How can I analyse my texts, media, and data in the humanities and social sciences?
You want to analyse your media, text or data digitally, but do not know how? You only have a laptop but no programming skills or money for expensive programs? Do you want to consider good research data management, but do not know how? Galaxy is here for you!
This coffee lecture hosted by FDM Thüringen gives you a quick overview of how you can use the open source platform Galaxy (usegalaxy.eu) for your (1/2)
Galaxy showed how 'one framework, one workflow, many communities' can run cross-disciplinary imaging analyses on the emerging EOSC Federation. Here is what we presented, with slides and video. https://galaxyproject.org/news/2025-11-13-eosc-symposium2025/
Data Terra, the EOSC thematic node for the environment, demonstrated how the Galaxy platform accelerates environmental research through interoperable, FAIR data workflows within the EOSC Federation. From satellite plumes to ecosystem blooms. https://galaxyproject.org/news/2025-11-18-eosc-symposium-earth-science/
First time #ecocompute#ecocompute2025 (what's the recommended hashtag?) participant here.
Currently on the train to Berlin and looking forward to learning from all of you and to the "Green Mindshift in Software Development" workshop on Friday.
Representing
@galaxyfreiburg there, and while I'm coming to learn this year, we have lots of plans for greener scientific computing on the #GalaxyProject platform, which I'd be happy to discuss and, perhaps, then present on next year.
