The FT has joined the clamour for 'inevitable' benefits' reform (read benefits reductions); as always such sentiments are expressed by those who've seldom be so troubled by the need for state welfare!
Its another aspect of politics that has been poisoned by the lies of the Right wing media; for years they've exaggerated welfare fraud, and the idea of people living a care free life at the expense of working taxpayers... a narrative that has slowly spread & now shapes policy.

In a more rational world, all employees would be paid genuine living wages, and otherwise-unviable businesses deemed valuable to society would get government subsidies. #dreaming
Ever wake from a dream with the emotion still clinging to youâjust long enough to disturb the morning peace?
I had a dream last night. Strange one. Itâs already fading, but hereâs what I remember: I traded my truck for a souped-up muscle car. At some point, I needed to move a trailerâbut the car didnât have a hitch. I searched online for a fix, but came up empty.
The last bit I recall, I was heading somewhere with a man and a woman I knew wellâexcept I didnât. We all piled into the car, and I woke up.
Weird, huh? I felt a flicker of regret about the truck. What was I thinking?
Then again, it was just a dream.
âAll that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.â â Edgar Allan Poe
"The image is a vibrant tapestry of flowers and foliage, bursting with color and texture. Red, white, purple, and yellow blossoms bloom in varied shapesâsome round and clustered, others spiky or star-like. The flowers are nestled among a dense backdrop of green leaves, which range from broad and round to fine and needle-like, creating a rich interplay of forms.
The composition feels both wild and intentional. No single flower dominates; instead, the eye moves across the scene, drawn by contrast and rhythm. The red blooms offer warmth and intensity, while the purples and whites cool the palette and add softness. Yellow flowers punctuate the scene like scattered sparks of light.
The greenery is just as varied. Some leaves are smooth and circular, others resemble pine needles or feathery fronds. Together, they create a layered background that supports the flowers without overwhelming them. The textures invite touchâvelvety petals, waxy leaves, and the imagined rustle of stems in a breeze.
Thereâs no visible sky or soilâjust a close-up celebration of growth, color, and quiet chaos. The image feels like a garden caught mid-breath, alive with detail and harmony." - Copilot
A fascinating dive into the purpose and potential of dreams
Dreaming is one of the most deeply misunderstood functions of the human brain. Yet recent science reveals that our very survival as a species has depended on it.
This Is Why You Dream explores the landscape of our subconscious, showing why humans have retained the ability to dream across millennia and how we can now harness its wondrous powers in both our sleeping and waking lives.
