Since I'm not local to BC, I don't know what would be a good trans-supporting non-profit or charity to send money to there. Can anyone local to BC, Canada recommend one? #BC#Canada#TransRights
My country has just endured the worst school shooting in it's history. This is not something that happens often here. Our hearts go out to the families affected by this tragedy in Tumbler Ridge.

A Stunning Lakeside Escape
Set against the backdrop of the snow-dusted Coast Mountains, Rainbow Park is a visual feast. From the grassy shoreline, visitors enjoy sweeping views across Alta Lake toward iconic Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. On clear days, the reflection of the peaks shimmers across the water like a living painting, especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset.
The lake’s glassy surface invites swimmers, paddleboarders, and kayakers in the warmer months, while its shorelines draw photographers, picnickers, and sunseekers. The dock extending into the lake is a favorite spot for quiet reflection, launching watercraft, or capturing that perfect mountain-and-lake shot.
Today former Conservative BC MLA Dallas Brodie introduced a bill to ban territorial acknowledgments from public events and places including schools and the legislature itself.
You can find her proudly posting about it on X (at Dallas_Brodie) I won't link it.
It's as bad as you think it would be.
It's not a bad thing to acknowledge and respect the fact that people lived in BC/Canada for millenia before European's got here.
It's not a bad thing to acknowledge and try to repair the deliberate harm that was done in that process.
(the bill was voted down at first reading by a voice-vote)
I hate non stick pans. When I saw the non stick coating coming off my Mom’s pans I thought, “Who ate that?”
Don’t buy them. I mainly use cast iron and long-handled stainless steel. And don’t use plastic utensils. If you have non stick coatings, use wood utensils.
Can anyone explain to me what the issue is with the #BC#Ostritch Farm? Is it simply loss of income the farmers are protesting? I understand they previously sold the birds for food and now sell them for scientific experiments. This does not seem to be about protecting #AnimalWelfare. What are their "followers" following exactly?
