I feel like Donald Trump meeting with a former Islamic State Leader, a guy the US attempted to kill in Both Iraq and Syria across 3 administrations ... that should have been a bigger story. And He met him in the White House! they've met at least twice, talked on the phone numerous times.
But at this point no one is even surprised. Yeah the US is best friends with Jihadists now. Alrighty.
The current President of of Syria currently goes by al-Sharaa, which supposedly is his real name, I don't think we know much about his exact origins, other than he's from the Golan Heights supposedly ( hence the nom de guerre Al-Golani )
He started out with Al-Qaeda in Iraq in 2003 and quickly rose up the ranks, and then switched to the Islamic State in Iraq and then was sent by big daddy Bagdaddi himself as as an envoy into Syria to hijack the Syrian Revolution with his Al-Nusra Front.
That's according to Charles Lister in The Syrian Jihad, he's been on the CIA's radar for well over 20 years now. He did break with IS around 2014, and Al-Nusra rebranded to Al-Sham some time later, though he and his organization has never renounced Jihad, and they've continued to commit atrocities ever since. But since he now wears a suit and tells the western press neoliberal buzzwords they buy into this.
📺 "Rożawa - rewolucja społeczna jest atakowana. O co chodzi?
Rewolucja w północno - wschodniej Syrii jest agresywnie atakowana przez armie rządowe.
Dlaczego? Co to za rewolucja? O co chodzi z kobietami? Co z ISIS?"
Iraqi sources: For the first time, Iraqi groups have sounded the trumpet of war, reports indicate that all personnel are being armed and are ready to attack American bases.
But the YPG’s inevitable clash with the state came this month, as the Syrian army, supported by allied Arab tribes, advanced quickly. The #YPG’s rapid collapse was expected by those familiar with its history: the group, operating under a #Kurdish banner, was never a genuine grassroots force. It lacked popular support even among most #Kurds and was completely dependent on foreign [...] backing.
Throughout the Syrian conflict, the group shifted its loyalty from the Assad regime to Iran, then Russia, then the #US and the EU, and finally #Israel. At no point since 2011 could it have held its ground against its opponents without massive funding, weapons and air support from the US and others.
The months-long standoff between the #SDF and the #Damascus government turned in the government’s favor on Sunday when #Arab tribes in the provinces of Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zour—who had for years been close allies of the SDF in its fight against ISIS—defected to the government and turned their guns on their former comrades. In response, the SDF rapidly withdrew from these largely Arab provinces and established their line of defense further north in the #Kurdish heartlands of Qamishli, Kobani, and Hasake.

We, the faculty, students, and staff of the Universities in Rojava/Northern and Eastern Syria, send you this message as we leave our classrooms to help defend our universities, our cities, and our revolution alongside the self-defense forces. Before the autonomous administration, Raqqa (Sharq) and Kobanê had no universities. Our campuses, built in the midst of war, have reclaimed long-denied education to young people, grounding learning in women’s liberation, ecology, and a democratic, communal life for the people.
For the past fifteen years in Rojava/Northern and Eastern Syria, under constant pressure and repeated attacks by imperial, sub-imperial, and colonial powers, our people have built a shared life through collective capacity. Against capitalism and patriarchy, we have worked to advance a society rooted in women’s liberation, ecological life, and democratic self-rule. Under the conditions of war across the region, and against the violence and impositions of regional states and their mercenaries, we relied on our own self-defense and our own diplomacy to carve out space, and within that space, we struggled to build a life that once seemed impossible.
Today, that life is under attack. What we have built, this source of hope for oppressed peoples in the region and around the world, is being targeted from all sides by the fascist forces of the Syrian Arab Army, an al-Qaeda lineage rebranded into state authority and dressed in suits, and by mercenaries, backed by regional and global imperial powers.
We are living through an unfolding feminicide and genocide. The situation on the ground is urgent and worsening by the day. Our university buildings are full of displaced people trying to survive the winter without blankets or extra clothing. Turkish drones have targeted several places near the University of Rojava in Qamishlo during the last few days. Students in the dormitories in Qamishlo are cut off from their families in Kobanê, not knowing if their loved ones are safe, and unable to reach them.
The situation in Kobanê is particularly dire. The city is currently under siege, surrounded by Syrian Army forces on one side and the Turkish army on the other. For seven days, there has been no electricity, no access to water, and no reliable access to basic necessities. Under these conditions, learning, safety, and survival are being targeted as part of a coordinated siege.
We say this clearly to our friends, colleagues, and comrades: we will defend ourselves with everything we have. We will defend our people, our universities, and the possibility of the life we have struggled to build.
We call on you, wherever you are, to stand with Rojava. Raise your voice. Organize on your campuses, in your unions, and in your communities. Use your positions, however limited they may feel, to push for action, to demand accountability, and to refuse silence. Strengthen the networks of solidarity that make resistance possible. Stand up for the revolutionary aims of freedom, women’s liberation, ecological life, and democratic communal life. Your solidarity is part of our self-defense, and it can help shift the balance and prevent yet another genocide in the region.

...The meeting, and along with it the tenuous ceasefire, collapsed. The government had demanded full and immediate handover of SDF-held territory to its control, the disbandment of the SDF as an armed force, and liquidation of independent civil institutions—steps the SDF was unwilling to take... SDF officials accused Syrian government aligned forces of executing captives and vowed to resist the onslaught, with officials sharing a video that they said depicted the partial beheading of #SDF fighters.
#Trump today expressed his support for his Syrian counterpart, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who launched an offensive against Washington's former Kurdish allies, asserting that a "choirboy" couldn't handle the situation.
"He's working very hard, the president of #Syria He's working very, very hard. A strong guy, a tough guy," Trump told reporters at the White House.
"A pretty tough résumé. But you're not going to put a choirboy in there and expect the job to get done," he added.
So, #US military, with the #AlQaeda/#ISIS based Syrian "government" attacking the #Kurdis in Syria while ISIS is ambushing them when they try to flee. All at the same while Turkish military watching it closely and making sure their borders are closed!
All those MFers who were screaming about bombing #Syria a few years ago are so disgustingly silent.
I truly sick of this world. It is so obviously corrupt and fake all our "world leaders" are. Not to forget those fake "activists" online. #Turkey
