So, a little while back, I was looking for some Fedi front-end and somebody recommended to me #Phanpy, and I didn't like it. It felt too minimal for me. Well, I gave it another shot and I am really enjoying it this time around. Hell, it might become my default front-end from now on!
I'm also pleased to report that it works super well with our #GoToSocial instance. So far I haven't found anything that is broken or doesn't work properly.
I still wish it had some options here and there, some simple customization. Like, I don't like the fact that it presents content warning posts with blocked text instead of just letting me open the post and I can't seem to change that. The boost section I still need to get used to, I see the idea, but it just doesn't really click for me so far. And I wish I could change the accent colors.
Another thing that I would like is a pronoun detector. So far, #Moshidon has been the only front-end that I've seen that does that, and it's a full-fledged app, but it is really convenient that it can detect a pronouns field and just display them next to the username.
But otherwise, yeah, I really like it. It feels modern, it's clean, it's quite pretty, and it's really functional. So I think I found my new home for now. :neobun_heart:
So the #Tusky app for Mastodon is pretty great. Solid performance, handles notifications well, and looks good.
I'm trying out #Moshidon now. It's a good looking app, with a modern elegance I like. Imma put it through its paces tonight on #Monsterdon. We'll see how it holds up.
It's hard to find a pattern though. I only got one notification for your reply.
If it helps I've moved to the Nightly build of #moshidon 2.3.0+fork.110.moshinda-nightly+@2025-06-15 (110) though I'm not convinced that the problem has disappeared because it doesn't happen always.
Hmm. Is Moshidon not reading the "filter language" setting from my instance? Weird. I whitelisted English and Polish, but I constantly get toots in other languages, too
#Moshidon#UX

Hello Lucas, I hope you're feeling better. Have you ever thought about asking around here to see if anyone would like to support the development of Moshidon? It might be healthy to open up the project to others.
Does anyone have any #android app recommendations for fedi as an alternative to #Moshidon?
Moshidon crashes whenever I open the emote panel, try to look for an emote or type out the name of an emote. It can't load the emotes in the emote panel fully as it crashes.
Ideally would support the following:
glitch and akkoma
mark down
drafts and scheduled posts
react emotes
local-only posts
ability to load and use emotes on an instance with a high volume of emotes.
Edit: I have already used Tusky in the past, but it didn't really support all of the features I've been looking for. Could someone confirm if it has these features?
Do other
@moshidon users notice problems with the #Android app recently? I often get the spinning "loading" graphic for long periods. Like when I try to open news links. Sometimes they take so long, I give up. I tried the same with the official
@Mastodon Android app and it worked well.
@moshidon Thanks for the progress reports. How do you prefer to receive problem reports about #Moshidon? Here on Mastodon, via an issue tracker (like in a GitHub repo), or something else? I have some other issues to raise and I'd like to do it in a way compatible with your workflow.
I am gonna make the rewrite branch the default branch in Moshidon's repo as soon as I finish some tidying up, because I feel like it can be mostly usable (though there are some major things still missing, namely emoji reactions, announcements, and themes). There are also a bunch of missing small settings, but the timeline management is working alright, so it should be at least usable.
I will keep y'all updated, and thank you for using Moshidon :moshidon: 😁
For those experiencing trouble with the current version of Moshidon, I recommend you seeing if the latest version of Mastodon for Android has any common problems with Moshidon, and switching to it (for now) in case it doesn't.
Moshidon currently is based on a really old version of Mastodon for Android, and until the rewrite branch takes over, some weird issues will continue to pop up.
I apologize for all the troubles, and I am working towards rectifying them all.
I keep getting this message when trying to load missing messages in #Moshidon, as if there is some broken post that blocks the update? It is consistent for specific time blocks and I can not load the messages in the app. Any ideas?
Every server has a "Local" timeline which shows all the public posts made by members of that server. You can browse the Local timelines of most servers by going to their websites and clicking "🌎 Live Feeds". You don't need to be a member of that server or logged in.
You can also follow Local timelines of other servers on certain third party apps including Fedilab and Subway Tooter on Android, Ice Cubes on iPhone/iPad.
Mastodon's web interface now automatically detects which language you are posting in and suggests switching to it in the posting language indicator.
For example, if you have your posting language set to English but you start writing in French, the language indicator notices this and starts glowing yellow. Also, French appears at the top of its language list.
Update on the rewrite situation: I am readding hold to interact with another account, and after finishing that, only getting emojis reactions back in place and getting the announcements fragment working again will be the roadblocks for the new Moshidon to take the old Moshidon's place 😁
