It's happening. In parts of New Zealand, insurers have stopped offering cover on properties at risk from climate change.
It started with AMI in Westport, progressed through Blenheim and Canterbury and now Tower Insurance is refusing to cover some properties in Outram, on the Taieri Plains.
Climate change... coming to a property near you, a whole lot earlier than you expect.
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates more than 2 million Americans could benefit from a treatment known as PrEP, but only a quarter of them are getting a form of the drug. Zach Dyer appeared on WAMU’s “Health Hub” on Feb. 4 to share tips patients can use to avoid those pitfalls and find a doctor who knows more about PrEP."
"A liver transplant in the United States comes with a bill of around £806,436 if you are uninsured, and £733,124 even with private insurance. On the NHS, it is £0 at the point of use."
The conservatives and "reform" want to copy the American system in the UK.
Same in Sweden, France and other european countries.
"Of this year’s 12 featured patients, five had their bills mostly or fully forgiven soon after we contacted the provider and insurer for comment.
Our mission, though, is to empower every patient with the information needed to understand, manage, and — if push comes to shove — fight their own medical bills. Here are our 10 takeaways from 2025."

"A notable aspect of private health insurance is the absence of any reason for it to exist. It does not contain costs, expand coverage, or expedite care—it makes those all worse. Its sole function is to profit as a rent-seeking middleman between patients and providers."

The U.S. Senate is poised to cast votes on competing health care proposals.
@ reports: "Neither bill is expected to have the support it needs to pass." Millions of Americans face huge insurance premium increases if Congress doesn't act.
I am not bringing mom back to this dentists. She can keep this dentist if she wants, but she needs to find her own way to get here.
She refuses to use the dentist close to her. Note that I have been using that dentist for 20+ years. They are fine. But she has this fiction stuck in her mind that the location only hires dentist in training. That isn't true.
There is a day where people can get free cleanings from dentist in training (Available once a month).
There was a guy at the window arguing for 43 minutes. He said he was in pain and he needs someone to do something now. The dentist said they could work him in for a consult on his pain. He doesn't want a consult. He wants treatment!
Also, he doesn't want to pay a copay. He wants his insurance to pay for 100% of it. They asked him to take a seat. He refused, and was there by the window for 43 minutes.
As was pointed out here (but not by me I hasten to add, even if I agree) the next issue for AI investors would the issue of insurance.
And so the news that major insurers are now seeking to limit their liability in corporate insurance claims where AI is involved, suggests another weakness in the AI investment boom might be about to emerge,
If you cannot get insurance, then AI starts looking a little different in fiduciary terms (with risk rising?)
U.S. Senate Democrats face an uphill challenge in getting a December deal reviving expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies. Many Americans are facing shocking increases in their annual health insurance costs.
