A pretty cool thing about the Fediverse:

It will still be around in a decade. Even two decades.

Usenet still exists. IRC still exists. Email still exists. When you build platforms on open protocols and standards, it doesn't actually matter what corporations try and do to enshittify it. So long as there are people who are still willing to run instances, and users who still want to talk to one another without going through some corporation's platform, it'll still be here.

Since Microsoft is organising a European Sovereign Tech Fund, we should ask Lockheed Martin to put together a European Sovereign Defense Fund. There’s probably also opportunity here to bring Amazon in to advise on EU labour standards and have McDonald’s take the lead on food safety policy in the EU.

The interesting thing is: People who used search engines (to find sources etc) did not show similar issues. This is an important antidote against the belief that LLM-based tools are just like search engines. Which they are not. They are massively degrading their users' mental abilities and development. Which is why these systems have absolutely no place even near any school or university.

Very early , 30 April 1944, New Zealander Nancy Wake parachutes into occupied France to be a courier for the Special Operations Executive. The British SOE supported French Resistance to Nazi occupation.

Nick-named 'the white mouse' by the Gestapo, she is never captured. She died in 2011.
