It's now been 1 1/2 weeks since Apple removed my review of the app on the Apple Store. I have an escalated customer request with a personal contact to have it reinstated, and they're "actively working on the case" since a week.

I've already quoted a nice little recent post by the @EUCommission in my communication with them, where the EC pointed out that "In Europe, you have the right to challenge content moderation decisions taken by platforms.". Just to be clear, there was no way to specifically challenge the decision - the link in the email sent out by Apple went to the general customer service who have no insight or access to the content moderation team and decisions. I had to fight to get to where my case is now.

I will take this all the way through the legal system unless they get their act together. I used to be supportive of back in the day, but no more.

I am shocked by how fast credit card issuers in Denmark block credit cards based on a hunch.

I have now twice had a card blocked, because their AI system saw a "suspicious usage pattern". Both times it was just me using my card normally.

It is deeply problematic, because you get no warning. You are just standing in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country, and suddenly you cannot pay the cab to the airport, because the AI God has spoken.

Is it like this in your countries as well?

troed ,
@troed@sangberg.se avatar

@randahl No. I've had a SAS Mastercard (Swedish SEB being the issuing bank) for an unholy amount of years and they've always reached out to me and asked whether the transaction they identified was valid or not.

Actually, they just did that yesterday, and indeed it was a fraudulent transaction and I had to get the card blocked. However, thanks to their app I could add the new card to Apple Pay and could thus use tap payments the very next minute again.

After multiple nightly Russian drone strikes, the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv is completely without power. Chernihiv had a pre-war population of 280,000 people.

And yes, that is yet another war crime committed by the Russian dictatorship.

troed ,
@troed@sangberg.se avatar

@randahl When the invasion happened my wife jumped in the car and drove down to southern Poland to help refugees to Sweden. One family (mother + daughter) we took in ourselves, since we had a spare guest house. Unfortunately Sweden really mistreated Ukrainian refugees, with a job market that was extremely difficult (the mom was a highly paid IT contractor) to get permits to and even though they stayed completely free with us the little money they got was barely enough to go by.

After a year, they took the decision to move back - to Chernihiv - since it seemed it would be far enough away from the worst effects of the war.

We're failing them, by not having gone in with a "coalition of the willing" and secured the whole of western Ukraine.

@benroyce I have to ask, are the citizens down in DC going to accept this Trump military occupation long term?

I believe part of the problem is that in the US you and your family will end up on the streets unless you're a good citizen and quietly go to work every day. But yesterday — 4 months later — that blew up in my face. Here is how…

@randahl fyi - some of the people in the discussion aren't actually angry over the misinterpretation/changing of the original post, but the fact that the post appears on Bluesky with foto and bio of the user in question ("doxxing").

... others are angry because they believe you don't care about the fact that her details appeared there but only worry about your follower count - while I think it's obvious that what upsets you is being presented publicly as a bad actor.

The awesome @Em0nM4stodon is PSAing about the first case here: https://infosec.exchange/@Em0nM4stodon/114870842797314328

... as for the second I think it's just fallout. Once people get the "bad actor" impression everything else will be interpreted that way as well.
