❓Have you noticed that digital products and services are getting worse? So have we!

➡️We have published a report about enshittification, on how and why digital products and services keep getting worse - and how we can turn the trend (hint: open tech, enforcement, public policy++)

Obviously @pluralistic is a big inspiration and help in this work.

More than 80 groups in Europe and the US has joined in a call to action.

More here: www.forbrukerradet.no/breakingfree

Enjoy this short film!

Video about enshittification. The main charachter is an enshittificator, who makes things worse for people. In the analoge age this work didnt scale, but with the internet, he can reach much more people in way less time. The video shows different areas of enshittification.

@finnmyrstad I love the irony of hosting the video through vimeo which is a great example of an entishitified product!

I just finished the Pepper&Carrot new page for sharing our Fonts!
A decade ago, libre comic fonts were hard to find, especially with good accent support. So, translators, contributors and I edited and maintained our own to fill the gap.

Check them out: https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/fonts/index.html

Duckduckgo: ”When is the next Linux install party in Berlin?”

Look, I'm just gonna say this and add my voice to the others who are saying the same basic things.

I don't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut that Microsoft decided that your Windows 10 laptop shouldn't work anymore. If you can't use it, do not throw it away. Find a Linux nerd. We're out there. There are lots of us. Find one of us and give us the computer. We'll use it. We'll put it to work. We'll make it work for someone else.

Do not throw it away, because goddess above what a waste.

I just read 2 consecutive posts, one about people growing their own food and the second about self-hosting (and how hard it is for most people). And I think we can really draw nice parallels between the 2. They are both positive things we should aim for, but the entry cost is high and they will never totally replace our shared infrastructures (food production or hosting). (1/2)

New @organicmaps release for Android is out.

A standout new feature: you can now save planned as tracks.
It may sound simple, but the implementation is smooth, intuitive, and genuinely useful.

I’ll be using this all the time for trail —no more worries about battery life.

Give it a try.

Huge thanks to the brilliant developers behind Organic Maps. You’re doing amazing work.

@lemma @organicmaps Niiiice! Do you know if it already exists or is planned for the iOS app too?

i'm going to say something that may be upsetting to some of you but i need you to understand i'm not attacking you or the things you like, you can still like the thing even if i have mixed feelings about it

anyway. is it me or is breath of the wild like ... really shallow? i mean it's well designed shallowness. there's always some thing that has you going "ohh! wonder what's over there!" but so little of it feels like it ultimately really matters, and while they fleshed out this world with lots of stuff to see and do and loot it's so easy to also see the like, 3 or 4 systems they built literally all of it on

@eniko Yes, and so little narration!

Ok fedi, hit me with your best pigeons :blobcatrainbow:

Picture shows the same pigeon, corrupted with noise, and covered in tentacles. It's got four feet. It's saying "Be not afraid", but the text is corrupted

i dont understand achievements. i dont understand why the act of playing literal video games needed to be gamified

note: please don't explain achievements to me. it will not help me understand, it will only annoy me

@eniko I like them but could do without them. I like them like a drug I didn't ask for and that I'm hooked on now. I can see the dark patterns in them and how they sometimes change the way I play, and not in a nice way.
